Just curious if anyone has dealt with this and what they used..
Have a Dart Big M bbc block and billet main caps with Splayed outers.. problem is my oil pan has a Windage tray and I went to take the towers from my other BBC engine and they are about 3/8th to 1/2 inch shorter then Darts bolts they use.. I have called Dart and ARP and both said they don't know of towers to run a windage tray.. they did confirm they are about 1/2 inch longer bolt for the Dart Big M over a stock chevy 4 bolt.. so im asking if anyone has an idea what to use.. or am I gonna have to find an oil pan with built in windage tray.. any help would be appreciated.. engines in machine shop getting work done now.. thanks in advance .. I believe Milodon windage tray studs work,, not sure if I have any here to measure.

thanks.. I talked to a dart tech and he said the bolts Dart uses are 1/2 by 3 3/4 long .. I know a stock Chevy bolt is too short so they need to be a lil longer .. im going to the machine shop tomorrow and will measure for sure.. I got to find something or sell the pan and get one with a built in windage tray ;(

I don't care what anyone says . "Your the Man obnoxious" called Milodon and they have a stud that works .. Dart and ARP boith told me Nothing they make works for them and Milodon does.. thanks for the info :happy:

If you are running this thing with the flywheel forward you may have a hard time finding a pan with a built in tray.
Like Barry said. Milodon's studs for their caps may work. I know they list a different stud for their caps, and they are pretty tall. Biggest problem is, I thinking they only sell them in full sets.

Just my opinion, but most windage trays that bolt to the bottoms of the mains aren't worth their trouble. They reflect more back at the crank than they do good. If you've gone to the expense of buying a Dart block, you should also invest in a decent pan. Minimum would be one of the B&B pans with integral screens and scrapers.

Great idea, but B&B's pan doesn't work if the engine is flywheel forward.

yes it is Flywheel forward and I have a nice pan with the trap doors in it (12qt pan.). its going in a Kurtis t-deck runner bottom.. bolts were in stock at Summit and ordered so :happy: .. thanks for the input guys .. they sell just 4 bolts in a package for 52.00 I need 7 bolts for the tray so I ordered 2 sets :happy:
Engine is a 568 dart 9.8 block all Crower internals wiseco 15to1 pistons Merlin 345cc iron heads .. running tunnel ram with Bird catcher hat injected alcohol

Problem with that is you don't know if its for a stock cap, which is too short for the Dart caps.
My guess is that the stud they sell for their own steel cap is what he is getting.

I know their main caps are taller because if you use one on the front main the stock pan won't fit. They sell a different cap for the front. They're beefy caps.

Mains are splayed, font cap isn't.

That's what I always thought. But they sell both straight and splayed caps for the center 3, AND straight and splayed front caps.
The front caps aren't as tall.
