Power corrupts; Absolute power corrupts absolutely....It is really a difficult thing, trying to pick leaders, but not get someone who's easily corrupted by the power; I'd like to think I would be a "Good" leader, but I really don't want to find out how corruptable I might be.
This guy stepped down, as he should....the rest is posturing...typical politician who doesn't realize it's over....turn out the lights...:)coffee

I feel sorry for the children; either way they have a POS for a parent...

How do you get that he was corrupt from power or above the law over any of this? Is there a requirment that anytime someone is convicted of a crime they must quit their job?:)bulb

People begin to believe their own BS about how good they are.....He may not be guilty of anything except marrying the wrong woman....He may have been abusive before he became mayor....but a lot of leaders get big on themselves and let their egos get out of control.
As for quiting, to me it would seem to be an admission of guilt...If I was innocent of the charges, I would believe I was still worthy of the job....

Ok, so how does anything you read lead you to believe his actions come from him being in politics or a position of power?

Seems to me he had trouble with his wife. That happens in just about any walk of life out there.

I'm guessing it's simply because he is in politics that you think that guides his decisions/actions here.

I am speaking to the attitude.
Charlie Rangell, Blago, etc.

They get arrested, found guilty, and yet STILL never face up to their actions, political or personal.
They truly seem to believe that they do no wrong.

Perhaps an apology for his actions, admission of a moment of lost control, etc.
Yes, we all are open to these moments.

All right, so it's based soley on his career choice I guess. I see those same attitudes in just about anybody out there regardless of career choice, or "power".

Lol No. I was just curious why you guys seemed to link his Political Career to his Domestic Violence issues.

I've been to far too many BS DV calls where one day the female says A, the next B, and the next C (Goes for both parties actually). You throw in a divorce situation and that only makes it worse.

If he actually hurt her then ****'em...

So, should a conviction of a crime require someone to lose thier job? What if he went out to a bar and got into a fight with someother dude or got a DUI. Should he have to quit?

Slamming her fingers in a door? I know some vindictive women that would do something like that just to cost their X more $$$$. Looks like she has done a jam up job if that is so.

I know my X made up all kinds of accusations during our custody battle.

So since he have a LEO here in our midst, I have a Q???. :) What did the harassment charge stem from? The hot tea throwing?

Either could technically sustain a Domestic Violence charge. Out here (Cali)if i believed he actually intended to slam her fingers in the door or if there was evidence that he actually threw the tea on her it would more than likely be 243(e)(1)P.C. That is a lesser DV arrest (MIsd Charge). For it to be the Felony Charge 273.5 P.C. she would have to sustain corpral injury.

Oh, and Marion Barry is my uncle......:)sphss:p:)hand

As for as the power/corrupts thingy...well, it's a trueism...look at all the professional ball players, the actors, etc that get themselves in trouble....And, in some ways, I'm glad I don't have all that wealth/power....'cause I wouldn't want to find out how lacking in morals I could be....:)coffee
