disappointed in the first dealings I've had on here so far

so I joined the site a little over a week or two ago and I have to say I'm pretty disappointed in my dealings I have dealt with 3 people and two of them really wasn't impressed with the products I got after purchase. I spent $250 on a doolly oil pan. When I got it had a big patch welded in it was never even told I guess its my fault for assuming it was nice and un dammaged.outties on the sides from internall parts trying to exit
some pretty heavy damage to some of the other parts which is fixable the next dilling was from someone I bought a basset T-Valve for $60 shipped it gets here it's been taken apart there's no spring inside.soI'm assuming most of it is my fault I guess you have to ask every little question assuming that everybody doesn't see things as I doI suppose misleading or just not giving the fax is something that people do I'll have to learn to ask everything every bolt hole.and I don't need to give up all info on any thing I sale....

So did you contact the sellers and express your concerns before going here to air them out? I have dealt with several people on this board and have never had an issue. Always a good idea to ask for pics.
I lurked for a while before joining, participated for a few months after joining then bought a few things here and there. Nothing but great experiences for me. I was able to determine who and who not to buy from. Being from the East Coast, biggest lesson I learned is it's done much differently on the West Coast. Even with the differences, I think most sellers are regular guys that understand that a lot of folks do this on a budget and I for one have been very pleased with the prices the West Coast guys throw out there.

There's kind of a buddy system here, most of these guys know each other and know what to expect, they live close to each other, they've seen the parts at lake outings and races and perhaps don't have to volunteer too much detail. But, for an "outsider" like me, they get it, each one that I've dealt with knew I was an outsider and took the time to answer a few more questions or throw up a few more images. I have pretty much restored my piece of junk from this For Sale Forum and probably saved around $1,000 bucks. Don't throw in the towel just yet, you'll snag some great deals and meet some great people along the way.

For what it's worth, I always look at a members total number of posts before jumping on something. I like to make sure they've been around awhile. Those guys ain't gonna screw you no matter what!
not bashing on anybody on the boards did not list any bodys name just making a statement I assume everybody will be upfront about stuff as I am if I sell something you're going to know what I think of it.your right I should have asked more.but didn't want to be annoying so I asked what questions I thought I needed tolesson learned as far as looking at the number of posts I did figured it would be okay lots of those the other guy with the Bassett t-valve cant even find him on the boards.not giving up I think it's a really cool board lots of stuff lots of cool people.i think and know I'll benefit from it just tuff lesson learnd..
This board is older than this site, when hotboats.com shit on us we all moved to here so alot of us longtime regulars know who is ok to buy from. personally if it were me id post pics of what you were sent along with screen names of who sold it.i along with others like to know such things so we dont make the same mistake of dealing with them ;)
I pulled the ad up and it had no images but the seller did offer pics upon request. I see that you've accepted responsibility for the deal, nice job man.:))THumbsUp Even a wounded pan like that should be worth the price but I see that your involved in a resto project, I get your point in wanting nice stuff. Throw it back up here for sale, folks always looking for one of those.
Big difference in used and repaired/used, keep that repaired shit on ebay.
"Let the buyer be ware." Unfortunately this has been the rule in business for many a century. Most likely because there really is no way to police dishonesty. Like others commenting here I have had really good experiences, unless, I didn't ask the right questions, and that is my fault. Most guys here are real decent traders, but there is always the few who take advantage. Personally I will filet those guys on this site like dead fish. Everyone will know who they are and what their integrity level is. I also am quick to laud a good guy on this site. Sometimes there are misunderstandings and when a guy says hey just send it back or can you use it for less money, I know he's a straight shooter. Most people here are doing this out of expendable income, which is almost an oxymoron these days, so they need to have honesty to get the best for their money. If you are one of the guys who sells repaired blown up shit to guys as good used, then F--- You in face C---sucker. You know who you are. And thanks to the guys I have dealt with for being great guys. Lets keep this a good site with a reputation for great deals and let the jack offs crap on each other on Ebay and Craigslist. Just Sayin!

I bought a timing cover on here last week. Haven't heard from seller yet.
Better to be annoying and ask a hundred questions before getting bent over with someone else's junk! If the seller is annoyed with to many questions then they're not being honest. Anything I've sold on here or purchased has always been an upfront and honest deal whether it's disclosing damage or making the buyer/seller aware of the obvious you're going to envetually find out once you receive it. This forum is full of great stand up guys and we all wanna be treated right wheter we are buying or selling

Sucks you dealt with a couple bad sellers or didn't get exactly what you thought you were getting.. I have been fortunate in most of my dealings.. I have gotten some worn out parts before but I should of figured the price I was getting it for was too good to be true.. but for the most part there are a LOT of good guys on here.. I do sell A lot of stuff.. NOT to make extra income .. I just buy a lot of stuff then when I cant use it I re sale it and pass savings onto someone else.. I always try to make it right with anyone that buys from me.. even if I lose money on the deal, long as I walk away with good feedback from them im happy .. again don't let a couple bad deals steer ya clear from buying from people on here.. just remember ask questions .. and get pics of item.. Bill
Buying from people you don't know or parts you haven't seen is always a crap shoot.
Most of the people are honest and up front, but everyone is trying to sell their stuff and sometimes detail get left out if the right questions aren't asked.
A short while back there was an individual who felt he wasn't being treated properly and brought it to the attention of those on these boards about the other person, and promptly banned from posting.
Personally, I thought it wasn't entirely right, but that is just my opinion. To the best of my knowledge the full story was never known and won't be.
So, it's apparently not allowed to post names of those who may have done wrong.
everyone and all the items in all my dealings on here have been straight up. thanks everyone. you know who you are.:))THumbsUp
One of the problems with banning individuals for sharing bad experiences, would be the rest of us can never know we can trust.
If the same name comes up involving bad dealings numerous times by different people, then perhaps there's a problem.

On the other hand, name calling or threats are not in everyones best interest.
Facts and details is all that I would like to know about bad deals.

I haven't had bad experiences with anyone on these boards, so these are my opinions only.
To assume I don't have opinions about some individuals would be incorrect too.:D
I just took this pan in and sold it to a guy in Bakersfield for $250 if this is you by all means send it back for a full refund and shipping usps I just got it in and never saw a repair on it and I cleaned it out..........not sure it was you but heres a picture of the pan.. I've purchased a number of items from sellers here. I've always had great luck, but I've always checked into their posts and how much they contribute, and how they're received by other members.
I haven't had a bad experience yet. :))THumbsUp
