Well, I made the trip to Discovery Park and I must say, some of the boaters that show up are real A$$HOLES, and not all of them were wake barges, some were those damn jet skiers.

I guess the best time to go is during the week when those jerks are working.

WOT like a bat out of hell. Idles too high and it sputters between 2200 and 3000 RPM and then comes on. I may need to change the carb and go bigger.

Tune that bad boy. If it sputters at 3000, it's not cause the carb is too small. $10 worth of parts will more than likely fix it.

Cat, it sputters between 2100 and 3000 and idles too high. At about 3100 the thing comes on and the GPS showed 79.x for max speed and I still had more to go.... Then the damn clamp bracket that holds the forward/reverse cable came loose so it was back to the trailer and home. I'm not a carb person. I'm calling Edelbrock and see what they say. This was brand new out of the box and I didn't tinker with anything. Maybe it's too small for the engine rebuild.

We'll get together one of these days and go for a cruise. I'll be going out during the week to test and tune until I get this thing running right.

What carb is it? Just shooting from the hip here, but it sounds like a vacum leak, or possibly a powervalve problem. I would be glad to help out if we could coordinate I have a box full of holley parts to mix and match if its a holley.

It's an Edelbrock 1407 - 750 CFM. I just replaced the old one that was totally junked with the same thing. The junker did run but I was scared of it sine butterfly screws were missing and there's only one place for those to go. I've sealed and resealed for vacuum leaks and I don't think I've get any.

The Edelbrocks have metering rods like a quadrajet. If you are sure that you dont have a vacum leak, the next thing I would do is check to make sure the accelerator pump is working, then get a metering rod that brings in the power enrichment a little sooner. They are real easy to change. A 750 carb should work fine on almost anything.

Try switching the metering rods from the old and new carbbulb

Youve made a nice profit on that tank of gas, considering you probably paid 2.75 a gallon for it and it's worth 4.50 now.

If I go to the river it'll be early. I find that a lot of jerks show up around 11:30 or noon. LOL

Id say about 75% of the people on the water nowdays have no idea what the rules are, and dont know enough about boating to exercise common courtesy. just watch out for those guys, and lets go boating

Gotta get it running right first. LOL Then the fun begins. We've got a few more months to hit the water.
