You really think Syria is an Allie? We went there for humanitarian aide, not because they are an Allie. And you really have a time line problem when leaving Afghanistan for Iraq is a Trump issue. we went into Iraq before Zero even, but dig a little deeper, we never left Afghanistan. The Kurds as a group have helped with ISIS and have allied themselves to our fight against ISIS. The Turks have done the same. The difference is the Turks have a country (Turkey for the not quick on the uptake) which is a US Allie, the Kurds do not have a country (There used to be Kurdistan) and they are trying to remake that country. But there is not a current Kurdish country to be an Allie. Kurds claim land in Syria, Iraq, and Turkey as their homeland. The US has bases in Turkey and Turkey has been an Allie for a very long time. So unless Turkey violates human rights, the US should keep it's military out of it or risk loosing an Allie. They have imposed sanctions to try and get Turkey to rethink attacking the Kurds. Or are you saying a Country doesn't have a right to fight with a Ethnic group that wants to take some of their land to make a new country?

One major point I think you have over looked. With Germany and Japan when the war was over the war was over beside a very few and far between actions. After the flattening of cities and millions dead people had enough. Today we have wars that does not happen so they just keep going on. I was just watching a documentary on the first Gulf war. At the end it had a bunch of Iraqis defectors and some still in the Iraq's military, some in tears saying why didn't we take out Saddam and set them free bla, bla, bla.
