I went to the gas station today and noticed 3 guys in their early 20's stareing at the jumper cables. I asked if they needed help. They said that they didn't know how to hook up the cables to the batteries. I looked at them and shook my head and showed them how to do it. :D

Whats even funnier are the ones who get out 10gage cables to jump start a dead battery hook it up to another can and think they can crank right away.

I tried to give someone a jump and he kept doing the same thing after i told him for the 3rd time let the my truck run for a couple of minutes before you try to start i pulled the cables off my truck and told him find someone else to help you.

I completely agree. I've been working on cars with my dad in our home-based shop since I was about 10 and soaked it all up. I love working on cars now and am a mechanical engineering major. I'd say that 90% of my classmates couldnt change their own oil and they're majoring in ME. Its sad really...

My daughter picked up her first wrench a 2 yo. She is 28 yo now and calls me just to double check what she is doing. Plus she is at North Carolina getting her doctorate in Medicinal Chemistry.

It all goes back to upbringing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BUT, at some point the NIMRODS should be able to figure it out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have an auto shop at our local high school. Not only do they learn about basic automotive skills, they also have a drag racing team. The school has a couple stock super comp race cars.
