Ok. I am soliciting reccomendations for a bulletproof (or near as I can get), crank. I have a 14:1 620 BBC. 957 hp on a stingy dyno located at Gearheads shop in Atlanta, TX, so it is plenty strong. I broke the 4340 Ohio Crankshaft 4.75 stroke crank that was in there this past weekend. Haven't taken so much as a valvecover off yet, so don't truly know cause or extent of damage. I'm asking for suggestions from others that may have more experience. The engine does take the occasional hit of nitrous, so far from me as a 350 shot. On a microswitch only after full throttle. Next year, it may see 6-700 on the button. It turns 6300-6600 on motor depending on air quality. 7100-7200 on button. Used as occasional lake racer (nitrous), and will be ME class participant if I can ever get off work when it's running!-Am considering Callies Magnum, Callies Magnum XL - but am concerned about the lightening vs the longevity with the standard Magnum. Also considering a Callies Billet and a Sonny Bryant. -Thanks in advance!-John

Tiger likes these Cranks;)

im probably going to Upgrade to the Knife edged and fully Polished Magnum.

i done my reahserach on Ohio and pretty much come up with Junk?

they are Imported Cranks that they check in house and then they Usaully always need some Machine work when you get them Home!

Callies,Sonny,Lunati,Crower are all very good Cranks:)hand

The only forging that I would trust at that stroke is a Crower. Most I know are running a billet.

Bryant 1st
Winberg 2nd
LA 3rd,

Those are probably $ 2200 and up

Then you get to the $ 1600 and under series.

Myself, I don't care for the Crower.
I'd throw Scat in there for a Billet, any day along with Velasco. I wouldn't run a forged 4.75 crank, just saying if...
Billets are looking at 16-20wks to get one. Not sure you're going to get a Bryant for 2200.00

I have a brand new, never in a block, LA 4.500 blower crank that I bought from LA in 1988,,, it was $ 1878 then.

BUT, , we use the Bryant in the fuel car, they are a piece of jewelry and the splined snout is the chit !!!!!!!!!!

LAE today. Its worse than calling for tech support from Dell computers. You need to give them a SS # for a credit check just to talk to them on the phone. Notice anything familiar about the SP logo? Think CP pistons. Now part part of the Pankl Group.
