I've never been to elsinor other than to test drive a few jet ski's... I've herd storys about them being agg and kicking people off or not letting them launch for whatever reasons. I think i even remember some of you talking about "secret" launch ramps where you wont get harrasses. So whats the deal... Where should i get onto this lake at? What do i need to do/have to get on this lake? and when i'm on the lake what should i not do to get kicked off (until the last 15 minutes before i'm ready to go home :) ).

I'm gussing i'm going to have to run baffels... obviously i'm gong to need to have life jackets, throw pillow, reg, fire ext, etc...

I'm just going out there to test the boat for a few hours...

Dont be so negative..LOL:p
They dont bitch about noise. Stay in the center if you wanna lay the foot down. Spend a few more bucks and go to the marina off riverside drive. Less crowd and set up alot better. Oh they dont check for jackets and all but its good to keep it on just in case;D:)bulb

If you're not acting like an ass ... they're pretty cool there & won't even bother you.

The best launch ramp is the city ramp off of Riverside Drive (southeast side of the lake) as RT said. They don't even look at your boat or what you have, just take your money to launch ... they don't even leave their little booth.

Try it w/o baffles ... if they give you a hard time, tell them you just bought the boat and didn't know it was against the law & that you'll fix it (works 99% of the time, unless you meet up with the same boat cop again :D )

Here's a map to get you to Elsinore West Marina

http://www.lakeelsinoremarina.com/web_directions.html

I believe this is the one the guys above are talking about. Its not called the city ramp and is in south west corner of the lake. The City has a campground before you get to West Marina but its launch ramp most likely is not operational now. The City owned ramp is on the North East side of the lake and you don't really want to risk going there, its where the Sheriff luanches from and hangs out.

At elsinore west they old guy in the golf cart will harass you. I told him I was running Harley baffles in my primary tubes-cant be seen from the collector. He went for it.

Just get there early before he gets there and you will be fine. Have fun. Hopefully you've got the bugs worked out.

Not to start an arguement here, but the city ramp is the ramp I am speaking about, and yes the Sherrif does launch there ... you just have to be smart and launch while he's crusing the lake.

Elsinore West Marina guy is the one who won't let you in with over the transom headers ... he cruises up on his golf cart and tells you not to launch there.

The city ramp is marked with an "A" here:

And all of these boats launched from there during Tommy's memorial run this year:

Sorry Busby wasn't really sure which one you were talikng about since you said southeast and off of riverside. There are no ramps on southeast side and the only "City" ramp would be the City campground just north of West Marina which is on Riverside. The one you are refrring to is called Seaport Boat launch and it is on Lakeshore (500 W.). Just didn't want the guy to get confused. Your gathering was in the dead of winter and doubt there were any cops out then. Right now its luck off the draw. If you really are concerned about getting busted go ever to Crane's, Weekend Paradise or Playland Rv Park all over on Grand Ave but there ramps aren't as good but very dooable.
