I am acquiring a Sanger Shovelnose, I believe its a 1969. It needs work and has engine issues, it has a 454 in it now. This my first foray into these boats and I'm looking to see what kind of engine setup is the best for one these. Lot's of rpm, more focused on torque? I know there are a couple props with it, one I know a cleaver, not sure about the other.

I have not picked up the boat yet, I live in Connecticut and the boat is in Maine. Hopefully by the end of the Oct. I'll have it home. It's needs a lot work to be nice, now it's like a rat rod for boats.
