??Wet exhaust cam question??

Will this Erson cam work without having water reversion problems? Going in a 452ci bbc(427 +0.125 bore), 13:1, 049 heads, E85, edelbrock victor jr intake, Glenwood logs, Harman snails
Cam specs:
.770 lift intake and .720 exhaust with a stock 1.7 ratio rocker arm.Duration is 322.Lobe center is 112.the intake centerline is 108 and the exhaust centerline is 116.

Can you explain, I'm fairly new to wet exhaust. What should I being looking for in cam specs?
Alot less duration. The lobe center is OK, but its not near enough to shorten the overlap period created by the duration that long. The overlap is the period both valves are open at the same time.

Cam wouldn't be too happy with the exhaust either.
You're going to have your work cut out for you trying to find a decent cam for that compression that will be happy with the exhaust system and that doesn't cause reversion. If the exhaust exit is below the water line when sitting still or idle, you really have an uphill battle.

Comp cams 11-246-3?

Will this cam work? I have a Comp cams 11-246-3.
Duration in. 274 Ex 286
At .050. 230 236
lift .552 .555
Lobe separation 110
intake c/l 106

Close enough that I would be willing to try it. If it does suffer from reversion, it the water can be modified to work.
Any cam can be used if you are willing to modify the water routing and dumps.
The cam the OP posted is simply over the top for a log exhaust system with snails and a low exhaust dump.
I have used 300*+ cams with logs and over the transom pipes, and modified water exits with no snails.

Ever look at some of the offshore boats? Think this thing has some short timed cam? Its all in what you are willing to do to make the cam work, and how loud you are willing to let the boat be.

I never saw you answer if the exhaust exits below the water when the boat is at rest. If so, you are in for a big issue with that compression and the duration required to keep water out of your engine.

I never saw you answer if the exhaust exits below the water when the boat is at rest. If so, you are in for a big issue with that compression and the duration required to keep water out of your engine.
Thanks for being patient with me and answering all my questions. Water exit below water when at rest. Will the comp 11-246-3 have a big issue with my compression and below water exit? Or just the longer duration cam I listed last? How does my compression play into the reversion?

The compression has no direct bearing on the water reversion. The compression wants one camshaft with longer duration and the logs and exhaust exit damand a short duration.

I dont know much about e85, but will it handle 13to1 with iron heads and a little Comp cam like that? I ran a Norris 235/239 in my Nailhead (436) with logs and water at elbow, and NO risers, at water line tips. No issues ever. I would run the 230 like GN said and try it, if the e85 can take it. Get a kick ass starter and short 00 cables!

Thats what I question. How short of a cam can you run to keep water out of the cylinders with that much compression, even with E85. Its a little of a mismatch of components.
