Say for example I'm spinning a ab cut alum. impeller to 5400, if I change to a bronze or stainless I will lose r's because a stainless is heavier??? I'm finally ready to put a new pump together ....trying to figure out what to do impeller wise.

From what Duane at HTP as told me, the impeller weight has nothing to do with your top RPMs. If you had two A cut impellers both with an identical profile, but one was aluminum and the other stainless or mag bronze, you will not see any change in RPM.

Sounds like the answer is fiction then... I thought I'd heard in the past a stainless was harder to turn. The explanation I got today(from no one on here) was that the blades of the aluminum impeller would flex enough, that if you like your ab cut(in alum.) you should do a "b" stainless. That they acted about 1 cut different.

Type of material its made of has no affect on RPM. Thats why lightening them is not really worth it.
