Father Son Patterson Boat Ride

For those of you not on Facebook... I've been wanting to take my 81 year old dad on this boat ride for years, ever since Larry Lauterbach restored our 1968 Pattersom K-81 Sunburst for my wife and I in 2010. Unfortunately life has been in the way until last Friday when my dad and I got the opportunity to go out for a 'Father Son' ride on Flathead Lake Montana in the boat he made famous and had so much success in. This was one of the most rewarding experiences I've had in many years and look forward to the next ride with my dad! Thanks to my wife Karen and everyone who has helped me to make this goal a reality. Most notably the crew at Tony Applegate's shop and Jeremy Blake for ensuring a few issues didn't get in the way not allowing the 'Ride' to happen...

I made this video for my dad, enjoy!

Really awesome video and a great restoration. You can't beat memories like that. I just sent my dad the video I'm sure that they raced against each other back in the day.

Your post/video showing the love you have for your father has to be one of the best ever on the PB site.
Thank you for sharing.
Thank you!

Thanks for all the comments, I can't thank you guys enough… My dad made me who I am today and gave me this crazy love for boats that I'll never be able to shake. I've lived in fear for years of not getting to take this ride and I can't tell you what a relief it is that we got out and spent this time together in his old Patterson! It was amazing and sad how quick we burned 25 gallons of race fuel… Never wanted that ride to end!

What a complement Maxey, thank you!
So enjoyed that!! Makes me miss my Dad, who also infected me with this V-drive sickness. Your Dad looked so happy, surprised he didn't punch you out of the drivers seat! Jocko

Mufflers

You bet... Their Leach built with a Borla Muffler. Normally I run the original race Bassett's with the bell or megaphone end but their practically louder than the zoomies on the K-500 I drive. These are great, no ear ring after the ride and you can actually speak while underway. Unfortunately as you can see in the video and pics the inner muffler was not packed / secured properly and when I got after it it broke the outside aluminum housing on the passenger side. Oh well, drive it, break it and fix it! (Thats what we do)

Great picture and great memories I'm sure, cool to hear it was a MT boat! I absolutely love the Flathead valley, one of my favorite places on earth...
Great Video, thanks for sharing.
