I just wanted to share, I just recently finished the restoration of a 66 sanger for a friend of the family. Nothing fancy the owner wanted a simple clean lake boat that retianed as much original hardware as possible with just a little custom twist. The owner searched for years to find this boat before finding it at an equipment auction. The boat is one of only a few made by sanger with a t-bucket style steering. I did the floors, bottom, bodywork/paint/clear/buff and assembly, artwork was done by a local guy named JB.

Hey, I've seen this boat! If I'm not mistaken, it beat me out of a trophy at Bass Lake, he got "Sexiest Boat" which I thiught I had in the bag - even after I schmoozed thejudges. It looks just fantasic. Better in person as I recall that partially raining afternoon before the show. Great job on all the detail work, the red paint contrasting w/ the black floor and clean, chrome and stainless shows well. I kept hearing how the graphics on the deck really caught the eyes...awesome job. So, OK, next year I'm putting a couple naked chicks on my deck and see if I beat you, wait, female judges, OK, so anyone guys out there want to pose and take one for the team?
Seriously beautiful boat, hope to keep seeing you at Bass Lake. Next year you and I will do some 'exhibition' runs in front of Duceys at 7:55PM.

thanks for all the compliments. It was a really fun project, and I was very happy to be apart of it.

Wow that is a really nice job. well done.... what was the thinking behind the "t bucket" steering and did anyone else ever try it?
little john
It was something Sanger did on just a few boats. It holds centimental value to the owner. so we retained it (I did however change the steering cable from inboard to outboard on the stringers). As i said it is believed that only a few were ever made that way and I for one and most people i've talked to have never heard or or seen another.

Nice work.. That steering may cause a little problem come time to peddle it or have to make a quick exit... Although, I'm not a flatbottom guy, Jest saying.......:D Again, killer job
We have figured that already lol.. The boat will get used but it will most likely never see more then 65-70 mph.
Very NICE:)devil Great job. Im sure the new owner is very happy. Has he had it out on the water yet?
not yet, This week. we have been having an issue with a bad fuel gauge. replacement is due in this week then off to the water. He is very happy and that makes all the hard work well worth it to see the smile on his face.

damn, that's NICE. so what does your Tahiti look like ?
My tahiti is a floating turd. I build street rods, hotrods, drag cars etc. for a living i put so much time and effort into customer stuff there isn't much time for my own. I threw mine together a few years back to make it to cbbb and have slowely been picking at it to get it setup the way I should have done it to begin with. My boat is definatly not reflective of the normal type of work I do, but it floats and runs solid.

Ya the owner won that award this year. definatly a suprise to everyone, We were standing around talking to my friend then all of a sudden they start calling his name. We didn't know what for till they handed him the trophy. I can tell you for sure that it definatly made his day, he was very excited.

I will be back to the show next year, hopefully i can find another boat to build if not i'll still be there, good times for sure.

the steering in Sanger Sams woodecker that is in spam is similar
I'll try to get some more pics of the steering but it's a bit differen't, this is more like a true t-bucket, the column is almost totally vertical and the steering wheel is almost completely horizontal.

the steering is actually very tight and very responsive we wil see what happens when we put it in the water and get it up to speed.
