Just want to warn anyone that might be thinking about buying one of those E-bay "bargain" MSD look a like distributors for $50.00! on the outside, in the bright sunlight, you could almost mistake a PROCOMP
for an MSD, untill you take the "copycap" off! customer/friend had bought
one, and put it in his car, and of course, he couldn't get it to run! I went
by his house, pulled it out, and took it apart. has a cheap knock off HEI
Style mag pickup, a cheesy stamped thin reluctor tacked to the shaft,
crooked, too! the weights are rough, the welds on the weight pins burn
over into where the weights ride, the top plate is also cocked on the shaft, and in my opinion, not enough freeplay in the shaft(up &down)
I spent the better part of 2 hours trying to make the thing usable, replacing the weights w/ msd's, along with the correct springs( it doesn't
come w/any curve options btw, sanded and debured everything, replaced
mag pickup w/one out of a good old GM HEI, ran a new harness (didn't
like the 18g wire on the PC) and stuck it back in. it fired right up, but
who knows how long it will last, or what kind of timing stability you can expect from it! new MSD is on order for friend, just thought i'd warn anyone thinking about purchasing this junk
