All last year I ran with this setup. BBF, TT exhaust, Hardin logs, snails, flappers, and scilencers and had no problems. When still, the exhaust sits below the water line. This year, first time out, one of the cooling discharge hoses came loose and I burned a flapper on the same side. I did not realize until the next day that I had lost a flapper and got water in the oil. I replaced both flappers but decided not to install the scilencers. I noticed that with the scilencers in, the flappers are not able to open fully. Second time out, new flappers no scilencers, I get water in the oil again. Now I'm thinking cracked block. Change the oil, reinstall scilencers take the boat out a third time. This time the engine ran the entire time the boat was in the water. I started it right before launching and did not turn it off until out of the water. Oil is good, no water so that rules out a cracked block . I have not let the boat sit in the water without the engine running but since I ran with scilencers and flappers all last year I can only assume I will not have a problem . Why aren't the flappers and snails keeping the water out? It seems like I need to have the scilencers in to prevent getting water in the oil. Below are pics of the flappers and scilencers I'm using. I'm wondering if my snails are not high enough above the water line and what I can do to change that.

Flappers dont keep water out completely... they just slow down a rush or wake while of water at float. You could have a small crack in the snail wall or maybe its how boat was parked/anchored near wakes or against the current.

I removed the exhaust manifold on one side and found a crack between the cooling jacket and the exhaust chamber of the exhaust manifold.
