having starter problems . Have a mini and have tried all positions. wont clear the tunnels. Cut the mount( didnt help)
only options i have now is going 153t flexplate or top mount but im running a hardin marine rear bellhousing along with my rail kit so in order to run top mount i will need to figure out a 3/8 crank spacer. OR....Speedway motors sells something called a balance plate. ( balance a 400-454 with sbc flexplate. PN 916-15376
And thanks ahead of time.. Sorry for the ramble

You'll play hell trying to find a external balance flexplate with 153 teeth. Thats wheel size was primarily used prior to the 400 and 454 and was never used on a external balanced engine.
You thinking of using the Speedway balance plate so you can use a 153 wheel, or as a spacer. Or both?
If you go that route, I suggest you take you old flexplate and new one along with the weight and have the balance matched. There is no guarantee that the "balance plate" is even close to the counter weight of your current flexplate.

Who's "mini" starter are you trying to use. Have you tried mounting it in the 153 tooth position to varify that it will clear in that postion first before you go to the expense of buying a new flexplate.

Starter has 1/4 Clarence in 153t mount. Thinking of using the weight to run a sbc flex plate. Will defiantly have machine shop balance to original flex. thanks for ur help
