It looks like we will have a decent boating season on the lake this year. Check out the water levels. 600 af currently. last year the lake peaked at only 633 in may/june. I went skiing yesterday and there is significantly more snow than last year at this time.We should get about 200 more af,....Hopefully more.

yes it is looking good so far, since Feb 1 it has come up 52 feet yipee! What is disappointing is that they are still dumping alot. Hopefully they will NOT keep it low like last year for the spillway project going on. Caution to those considering the year pass.

attached are a couple pics, one from night before last and the other is 3 days ago.
1st is Browns, 2nd is the Hobie ramp

Cool to hear. Not sure how this new mandatory 92db or less motorsport law is going to affect us yet. I guess the fact my dad would be launching the boat with a beer in hand may have had something to do with the hassles. LOL....

How strict are they at Folsom with open headers? I know they used to be all over my dad 20 years ago. Got so bad he sold the tahiti and bought an outboard..

I've been runnin' my jet out there for the past couple of years and it has OT headers. I have really never had a problem but was stopped in Granite Bay last year one time and was told I needed to put in baffles. I've been launching at Folsom point ever since. I've never been stopped while on the lake.

there IS a noise law at folsom, I got a ticket in my jet for no mufflers in the headers
Not just Folsom, but there's a new law that just passed in California that states ALL motorsports must be under 92db with the exception to permitted drag racing events. That means boats, quads, motorcycles, airplanes whatever.. Even the weedwhip that wakes you up every Sunday for that matter. Thing that got me was I was at Oregon riding the dunes and got pulled with my quad for being too loud. 113db is a little loud, but when I asked the ranger to test his own stock 4 stoke Warrior, it was 96db out the factory pipe. Not sure how this will law will play out, but I think we may all be duckin and dodgin in the next couple years...

DITTO
I love the sound of a mean mill
But,believe you me if others here think they can run open headers on Folsom they got another thing coming
there is at least four different (bored stiff) LE agencys that patrol there and would love nothing better then to give you a coupon:)grn
You might get lucky, but it is a crapshoot at best
head out 45 minutes north to Camp Far West to run loud pipes
I was out there last Saturday and CFW is full to the brim and they are having some extra hotboat events this year
first sat of every month
Easter Sunday event
May1-3
No Memorial Day IHBA Red Bluff races this year,so CFW might see more action:)sphss

Another 30 ft and the lake will be full. This is really amazing considering what the lake looked like in january

Another 5 feet and they'll start draining it incase of flood from snow pack and we'll be just as bad off. OR, pump more south so the golf courses can be greened up for Arnold and company. :(

There is a noise law EVERYWHERE in Cali. 82dB at 50 ft is what I think the current law is. I've been cruising(but not flooring;)) my jet at Folsom regularly over the past few years and have only been questioned once. The time I was questioned, the guy was pretty cool and let me go on out anyway. I think as long as you are not bringing attention to yourself out there you will be fine. There are some pretty loud 25+ ft. boats out on folsom that make my little jet sound like a barking pomeranian. To be safe just launch at Folsom Point away from everybody and you should be good to go (lets hope anyway).

Also don't forget about Rollins lake up in Colfax. It is a nice little lake and I see jets up there regularly.

I know, it seem like this happens every year. They spent alot of money creating a new spillway at point 8. I don't understand why alot of water would need to be released .

Rollins is a nice place, but the last time i was up there with my junk (about 8 years ago) the patrol pulled me over, just to warn me that the max speed limit is 45mph:)st
