This is a 496 built with:

4 bolt main standard deck block, freshly bored, honed and detailed, new Durabond cam bearings installed.

New 4340 imported forged 4.250" stroke crank, SCAT H beam rods, forged pistons, Clevite "H" series rod and main bearings, moly rings, new harmonic balancer and flexplate.

Precision balanced.

Assembled including bearing clearances measured, crank thrust set.

$3800

I also have a similar "street" 496 available, 2 bolt block, new cast crank, new I beam rods, new Hypereutectic pistons, Clevite "P" bearings, same quality machine work, balancing and assembly, only $2550.

Still located in Southern California.

Is the street motor able to make 500 ponies with some good heads? Or would it need more work? Would it hold a good shot of nitrous, piston and rings handle it?

The street motor should make 500 horsepower with proper heads and cam, but with hypereutectic pistons, I would not suggest nitrous.

Barry,
What would the CR be with a 120 cc head on it. What pistons did you use.
Thanks,
David
