I have a mechanical Holley fuel pump feeding a 750 double pumper Holley on my 454 bbc. I have an inline gauge on the fuel rail and at idle it reads 10-12 psi. Isn't it supposed to be more like 6-7 psi? I won't idle and I'm assuming this is why. Too much pressure. Should I put a fuel pressure regulator on it? And if so which one?

I was looking at this one. Whatcha think? Thanks.

Aeromotive 13215 Aeromotive Marine Carburetor Fuel Pressure Regulator

The thing that confuses me is that it idled and ran fine all summer last summer. Brand new carb as of early last summer. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Do I need to run a bypass back to the tank with that Holley regulator. Or is it just one in and one out? Thanks. Not too savvy on the whole fuel regulator choices so sorry for dumb questions.
