Made some more progress today. Dawn (my wife) and I got the entire interior stripped from the top side including the carpet. Dawn got some of the carpet out of the cabin as well. I hooked a battery up, turned the key and :crickets: I shorted the starter solenoid and it turned over so either there is a bad switch or some faulty wiring. When I shorted the starter it seemed to turn a little slow to me. I think I am going to go get a couple of new battery cables and hook the battery to the motor, hot wire the dizzy and use a starter button. That way I have pretty much eliminated any other electrical issues. Sorry no pics today. By the time we finished we just wanted to pick up and get a shower. That was some nasty disgusting work getting that carpet out.
Exact reason why i havent made any progress on my project. i have to get all the old carpet out and something about doing it while its 110 outside doesnt sound fun.

No doubt. it's been 100 - 105 here for the last 13 or 14 days. It was damn sure hot. The boat is under a tree right now so that helped a little bit. It still sucked. Went back out and took 1 pic.

Hiya Matt.... wow looks like a different boat now that you and the wife cleared away most of the grime! I hear ya on the NASTY carpet...cat pee...mold....dirt...fishguts....whatever....yuck

we rollered on a fresh coat of poly resin on our whole deck and then painted it before carpeting....made for a nice sealed and clean surface....no way for water to get in through pinholes in the floor....:)devil

wow that deck looks awsome...what exactly was all that junk on the front? looks like dust and muck....

Good idea on the resin Paul. I may put a thin coat of resin just to fill any pin holes. The floor is really solid. I'm quite surprised considering how long it sat out uncovered. No clue what all that crap was on the deck. It reminded me of gunite splatter like you see when they install an in ground pool. I know that is not what it was but that is the best way I know to describe what it looked like. Good thing is most of it came off quite easily with a pressure washer.

Haha. Me too. Just to freaking hot, well and the kidney stone doesn't help much.
Boat looks great, thats a better deal than mine for sure. Keep the thread going so I have some much needed motivation ;)
I'd rather work in this heat pulling carpet than pass that stone. :))eek:)) How is the Wreidt project coming?

kinda like gunite....strange!....mebbe they roofed thier house or somthing and used the sleek to pile thier junk shingles on it...who knows...what a shame to let such a cool boat get to that point....well atleast it's going to a good cause...YOUR CAUSE! :D and for a great price! heck you cant get a JetDrive that cheap or a BB motor for that price...heck a trailer runs more than $800 these days for a used double axle... you did good

Wow your interior seats are in great shape...kinda faux leather look...not bad, same with the engine....hope it runs well!

keep on posting those pics!

ps Matt we used Vinyl and 3M spray glue on our fuel tanks and inside the cuddy on the walls...less chance of mold and wet stink with vinyl.....luckily our ceiling was fine headliner style material and not shag.....that would be alot of glue and work to replace the ceiling material

the fuel tanks are a bitch to clean out......we kept ours installed....drained 50 gallons total out of the 2 tanks, 10 year old gas....man it stunk...and replaced the pickup tubes..they were clogged with fuel residue. put 10 gals of new fuel in and drove the trailer around mixed it about braking and drained em again....put some more gas in and drained em again...used that gas in our pickup truck
we Used Polyethelyne semi flexible tubing....as the originals were copper and had to be bent to get em out.... removing the tanks would have made it easier and would have done a better job of rinsing em out..... its just a couple straps made of fiberglass holding em in...that would prob be a better way to do it (remove em)

Got it to make some noise tonight. It only ran for about 5 seconds and I was out of gas. Replaced the steering cable today also. There is no way the boat ran the way it was. Timing was 180 out. I just moved the wires today. Tomorrow I'll re-stab the dizzy and fill the gas can. Saturday should be productive. It ain't much but it is progress.

Sweet! :)devil Ol' girl even seems pretty smooth.... I may have missed it, but how long has it been sitting since it ran last?
Not real sure. The info I have gotten has been a little sketchy to say the least. Somewhere between 4 and 10 years maybe more.

25.6 is measuring from the farthest point on the stern to the longest point on the bow..... It measures 10 foot from the longest point in the stern to the dash, and 15.5 from the dash to the top of the bow..
OK. Measured mine today. It is 10' from the transom to the dash and 14.5 to from the dash to the point of the bow. So just as I thought the extra 1' is in the cabin.

I'm pretty sure the pump is in good shape. It turns freely by hand and is nice and quiet and smooth. There is about 50' of ski rope I need to cut out of it. It'll take bar stools to see over that tall ass dash. :)sphss

I did make a little more progress today. I believe I got all the wiring gremlins straightened out. Basically all I had to do is rip out all the additions to the original wiring and then re-terminate about 7 wires from the original harness. All the electrical seems to be working correctly now with the exception of the blower. I didn't finish testing that circuit but I'm betting it needs a new blower motor. Even the hydraulic diverter works correctly after I added a little bit of fluid. I also got all the water lines replaced.

I still need to change the oil, wire the trailer and replace the fuel lines. Then it is off to the lake for the first float test. I don't think I will make it tomorrow, my regular job will be getting in the way but, It should be no problem to finish these last few things before Sunday. I had hoped to get more done today but it started raining. Man do we need the rain down here so I'm not complaining.

when i got my old project a couple years ago, turn the blower on, and you could hear that old motor run and run. nothing else worked except the engine. then, some months later, i was re routing wire, re -wiring a lot of the transom, so decided to remove it just to get it out of the way while i cleaned things up.
the funny thing was, while that motor was spinning, it wasn't moving any air because the metal fan had completely eroded away (blower won't blow much with no fan)... looked all over around here, couldn't find a replacement, everybody says those old things were terrible. ended up replacing it with a plastic deal i picked up down at westmarine that's quieter, but it sure moves a lot of air.

also, great you got the engine running! but be careful running it without water; those exhaust hoses can get really hot really fast, and then fail at an inoportune time.

thats all great news! AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

we will ofcourse expect some pics and a video of the test splash.....

our trailer needed all new wiring too.....friggin shortd out bad 2nd trip out so I replaced all the wiring...much bette now

yeah the dashes are high....I bought a boat seat stand that was 24" tall...still way too short so we ended up making that box for the cooler and mounted the seat to it...a much better height. be careful on the bar stools! lol:)devil

Got most of the punch list done. Changed the oil, replaced all the fuel lines, new fuel filter/water separator, transferred all the old stale gas to the port tank. Starboard tank is empty and ready for fresh fuel. I hooked up the hose and let the motor run for about 20 minutes or so. It had a rocker tapping for about the first 5 minutes then the tap completely went away. I'm guessing it took a few minutes for one lifter to pump up after sitting for so many years. Motor sounds great now. Idles smooth enough to balance a quarter on it. It's hard to tell in the pic but I believe the impeller is OK. It has a couple of small dings but nothing major. Only surprise today was a busted hand hole cover. My little Rebel has the same pump so I can borrow the cover from it tomorrow. Still got trailer lights and some kind of carpet to do tonight then it's off to the lake with her tomorrow.
