Folks,

I just bought my dream boat after being without a fast boat for 32 years. Just bought a Cole TR6 with a 600 inch blown gas Chevy and need a place to learn to drive it and tune. I have a lake house at Bonham lake in North Texas but the old cranky people freaked out when I put it in the water to get some seat time. I guess some things never change!!! Someone called the sheriff after I had been out there for 5 minutes. The sheriff was super nice but I would like to not have to have to do deal with that.

I had a 78 Youngblood TX 19 when I was younger and people loved to hate me then too.

Where can a guy go to get some seat time and learn to drive again? I live in Magnolia Texas (Houston area) but spend a lot of weekends at our place in Bonham so I can go anywhere in South Texas, North Texas, or Oklahoma.

Any help would be much appreciated. I would love to attend some of your events but need to learn to handle the flat bottom first. It is a handful but I had fun before the sheriff showed up.

It is a crying shame to have owned my lake house for 25 years and people can't chill out while I run my boat for 30 minutes.

I am sure most of you have had the same kind of experiences.

Thanks,

Dean Harvey

It's great that you bought a hot boat but we on west coast like pictures. Thanks:relaxed:
YEAH!!! What he said! Lol

Dean:
I live in Lewisville and there are plenty of places around to go. Probably your most convenient place is either Tawakoni or Lavon. You can run some at Lewisville on the off days but I wouldn't try a weekend unless it's early and for a short time. Down by you, my favorite place was Gibbons Creek. Not usually much traffic, not a big lake, and the game warden is an ex dragboat racer. First time I went there he was sitting at the ramp when I pulled in. Walked over to him and introduced myself and asked him if there were any rules/ regulations I needed to know. He told me to not bother anyone and be safe. After my fun was had he pulled back up to the ramp next to me and got out of his truck headed in my direction. Turns out he took a bunch of really great pics while we were messing around a wanted my email address to send them to me. Yada yada yada

Holler at me if you hit the water somewhere around Dallas and I'll come meet you.

Guys,

Thanks for the replies. That helps a lot! I am going to tear down and freshen up the engine. I had about 20 minutes of run time on my lake and learned that I have a lot to learn about driving a flat bottom, ha! I started getting the hang of it and now I am going to make sure the engine is healthy.

I am excited that there are some places to go. I was scared my dreams were going to be short lived!

I met a guy named Kevin Clement at our lake and he told me about this site. He was very nice and encouraged me after the sheriff shut me down. He met me at the boat ramp after hearing my boat on the lake.

I can't wait to get back in the water and meet some of you guys.

Thanks again,

Dean

It is as pretty as it looks in the pictures! I was looking for a boat on the internet and my wife was looking with me. I was looking for "no engine boats" and my wife looked at me and said "If you could have any boat on this site, which one would it be" I showed her this boat and she said, "What are you waiting for?" The rest is history. We bought me a race trailer and picked the boat up in San Diego about four weeks ago.

It is drop dead gorgeous and the engine is POWERFUL! I am so proud of it and can't wait to really get some time in it.

My wife of 34 years is my first love and now I have another woman (the boat). She (my wife) is cool with that! She went for the first ride in it with me so she could participate in the occasion. I think she was a little spooked but toughed it out. I love her dearly (my wife), ha. I love the boat too!

Look forward to meeting you.

Impatient,

I don't drink or cause problems (other than make noise with my toys) so I would like to come up to Hugo some day.

Maybe I will meet up with you some day.

Thanks again guys for the list of lakes. I was pretty bummed when the sheriff arrived at Lake Bonham.

I am encouraged now!!!

That's certainly a beautiful boat and it should be fun to play with.

As already mentioned, Tawakoni or Lavon might be possibilities.
On the Brazos River is another place where some of us run and don't seem to have problems with officials.
There are a number of us that have V-Drives that run decent.
A couple of us have TR-4's, so you'd be right at home.

Wow!!

Beautiful Ride.
Many-Many spots around to go have fun. When you get it under control you will want to make a trip to Broken Bow on a Labor day or 4th of july weekend. Usually alot of boats there.

New Engine

I decided to build a new engine since I found a bunch of problems with the old one when I tore it down. Here are some specs and pictures of the new engine:

Donovan HC700 Block
Steve Schmidt ported ProFiler Heads
Jesel Cam Drive
Jesel Pro Rockers
Moroso 4 Stage Dry Sump Pump
M&M Custom Fabricated Dry Sump Pan
Peterson Dry Sump Tank
Indy Competition Blower Manifold
Comp Cams .840 Roller Cam
Kuhl 14-71 Blower
Enderle B&U Tall Injector

I am getting close to having everything together. Still have a bunch of brackets and fabrication to go for the new engine.

I would not put that engine in your boat. In fact, just to save you from the temptation of doing it, I'm willing to drive down to Texas and pick up that engine and take it far far away. :wink2:

Actually that looks like it is going to be a whole lot of fun when you hit the loud pedal. Keep up the good work. :))THumbsUp:))THumbsUp
