What are the wire colors in the Hardin manual and what are the wire colors on the back of the gauge?

The Hardin directions for the speedo show white--GPS signal, green--recall, purple--lights, red--12V power, and black--ground. The receiver wiring layout shows orange--transmit, red--power, black--ground, bare braid--ground, green--not used, and blue--not used. The instructions say to connect speedo black and receiver black to ground, speedo red to fused accessory power, speedo purple to running lights, speedo white to receiver orange, and speedo green to recall switch. Also, the directions indicate that the receiver blue and green wires are not used and should be taped off and secured.

The autometer speedo has plug that connects to red, orange, white, purple, black and gray wires--six wires instead of 5 on the Hardin guage. It would be nice to hook it up correctly the first time.

Thanks for any help. AP

OK here's the dealio with that:

On the big connector on the gauge you have 6 wires -

Red - Switched 12 volts. This wire can be jumped to the positive terminal on one of your other gauges that is key controlled so it turns the gauge off with the key.

Black - Ground

white - This wire is the hot wire for the internal gauge lamp for nighttime running. This wire is optional

The other 3 wires are for a 2 position momentary type toggle switch with a center off position. One position recalls the top speed measured for the day while position 2 clears the top speed memory. These 3 wires are optional

For the small connector on the gauge...this connector gets spliced onto the wires of the Hardin GPS antenna only and go as follows:

Small connector Red goes to the Red wire on the Hardin GPS antenna

Small connector White goes to the Orange wire on the Hardin GPS antenna

Small connector Black = Connect this wire to both the black and the bare wire on the antenna.

The remaining wires on the GPS antenna are not used.

Hope this helps. If you have anymore questions give me a call. I PM'ed you my phone number.

Hey Jetaholic--
I forgot that you had the same gps speedo setup. Thanks for the details. AP67... is my son and we were getting his boat ready for the season.
