His Libya military action has turned many of his supporters against him. The right-wingers are still against him even though they mainly approve the military action. This whole UN Libya deal is starting to fall apart already and he is the bag holder. If the Republicans somehow manage to run a reasonable moderate, think this will hurt him in 2012.
I think he has jumped the shark over his attack on Libya.

I don't think "the right wingers", as a group, are as approving of this action as you think. For starters, the term "Right Winger" pretty much applies to anyone who opposes Socialism and gererally favors Capitolism. Therefore it is a very broad and eclectic philisophical grouping. A "Right Winger" can be anything from a Monarchist to a limited government Libertarian or even an anti government Anarchist. One of the reasons that the "political left" has gained such an inordinate amount of power, despite their mostly failed and totalitarian ideology, is because "Left Winger" is a more specific term that appiles to a more specific and much more ideolologically united group.

Thank you for the "Right wingers" clarification Professor Sprinter :D. I loosely use the term in reference to the "Righties" in the Republican or Tea Party as opposed to moderate Republicans or even heaven forbid, Liberal Republicans.
So do you think Obama has made a politically fatal error attacking Libya without congressional approval? Or do you figure like many others here, that the very unlikely possibility he was born in Kenya is a much more serious problem ?

I don't think it will hurt him too much politically. Congressional approval has never been required for a President to take military action. If the majority of Congress has a big problem with it, they have the constitutional power to withold funding from any further action there...If that happens it would hurt him big time, however history has shown that this is something that is highly unlikely to happen...

Jeez, with all the politically suicidal things he has done in the past 2+ years, who can keep track of the worst???

Hmm, it was said the 2004 election was a referendum on Bush's wars.
Could be that 2012 will be a referendum on Libya, might hurt, esp. the enthusiasm of his base.

I'm kinda surprised he didn't talk to Congress about it. I would have. Why not go to Congress and say,"We're here to discuss our role, I'm not arm-twisting or bribing anybody. What about Libya?"

I think 'the man from Kenya' has already made a sufficient amount of fatal errors to do the deed, he just lacks the intelligence to realize it.

In a panel assembled on the mid-term election night to discuss the returns as they came in there were twenty-some odd who admitted they voted for the Kenyan but only six said they would vote for him again.

Truth is, without Union members who can't think for themselves, entitlement classers who depend upon the liberal programs for their very support and government workers who are trying to preserve their jobs, there would only be a few Charlie Sheen/Matt Damon types who would actually cast a vote for this Kenyan clown.

The answer to this issue is simple.

If in 2012 ghadaffi is gone Obama will take credit and people will attribute this positive change to Obama.

Of ghadaffi is still in power it will have been seen a foolish action on Obamas part to get involved in a war with no endgame and the childlike Arabs who dont know what the F they want from day to day.

Ill bet we see an escalation on the ground front or a serious escalated aerial assault because Obama knows this- he also knows this could be the lynch pin in 2012

Astute anaylisis. I just hope not many Americans have to die to see which politician, Ghaddafi or Obama is the last man standing by 2012.

The Simple Solutions are always the best ones.

Solution to the problem in Libya:
They want a new Muslim leader, I say, give them ours.
Solves 2 problems.
