Another example of why LEO's are underpaid. And Sharpton makes his "expert" observations from afar. If the cops hadn't responded and it was a burgulary, they'd have claimed it was a racially motivated crime and the cops weren't in any hurry because a black man owned the home.

These clowns walk around with a chip on their shoulder just waiting for an opportunity to complain. Sorry, that's just the way I look at the bulk of these incidents. If the guy would have been white or another race the officers would have done the same thing, asked for ID and detained everyone until they were assured the situation was stable. Here we go again........

"this guy should have had the SNOT stomped out of him OR gotten tazed":))eek:))

Police say he refused to come outside to speak with an officer, who told him he was investigating a report of a break-in.

Gates said he turned over his driver's license and Harvard ID — both with his photos — and repeatedly asked for the name and badge number of the officer, who refused. He was shocked to find himself being questioned and shocked that the conversation continued after he showed his identification," Ogletree said.

Read the article. He refused to ID himself initially and then ranted on about badge nos. after showing ID.

I've been involved in several instances where I was on my property or a business property where I belonged in similar situations. I was asked for ID as proof of who I was and why I was present and cooperated fully. Why should this Prof be any different? I hope this thing is allowed to play out and I think if it comes out as I suspect it will ifthe truthg is presented, the Prof should be ordered to make a full public apology.

I think the Prof has a chip on his shoulder and Chillin' I'm getting a real strong impression you also have that chip. The way you pick your spots to post all have a similarity to them......Just sayin', take as you please as usual.:)hand

Frankly I'm getting sick and tired of this damned "Racial Bullying". It's not right and all it's doing is further dividing the country. Sharpton alone has been involved in far too may cases where it was just made up BS, Brawley and Duke come to mind, and it looks like we have gotten another going on. Black activist Quanell X has been regularly doing it in Houston and has not in even one instance been able to prove police were in the wrong, but we never get an apology to police or a retraction and that is just plain wrong.

That sounds great, but there is no way that he should have had the snot beat out of him or been tazed. The fact that that statement is ok with you speaks volumes.

We know of course that the media only reports the whole truth and nothing but the truth..never leaves ANY details out whatsoever...right??

Give me a phuking break!
Volumes how? I for one am sick and tired of being called or considered racist. That is what you are doing to Tex right now.
In fact, that is the only times you show up any more. To promote racism. What, Sharpton got you on salary? Or do you just volunteer?
News Flash: Cops stomp white people who argue with them too.
I have a nice scar on my nose to prove it!!:|err:|err:D

Sounds to me like he was pissed about his door or key, then took it out on the cops, almost baiting them and asking for a tazing.
Too bad for the LEOs' that he has the race card in his pocket.

Yep, being ex-LEO and soon to be back in law enforcement, I can attest to that. I've seen way more white folks get focked up tryin to fight the police than blacks and mexicans.

The race card to me is a quick way to end up behind bars..start acting stupid and saying racist remarks...disorderly conduct in a heartbeat..and praying they get froggy b/c there about to be hooked up with a resisting arrest charge added on.

Well holy $hit..that's nothing new...the DA's office knew Sharpton and Jackson were about to board a plane and head that way. I need to head over to Africa and become a citizen so I can move back and be a real African American and have the country bow down to be b/c nobody has any balls these days. /rant.

Charges dropped because of the racist accusation.

Here's a little lesson I learned. DON'T yell at cops. It will never end well for you.
I don't care how big a dick they may be.
Heard of "suicide by cop"? Well, there is also "get your' as* beat by cops" also!

I know you can't be that naive.

Now, what were trying to infer about Tex???
Care to answer that??

Growing up on the southside of Chicago, I learned the same lessons. That doesn't mean that it's ok to beat the snot out of anyone or taze them when the situation clearly doesn't call for that. Those actions would have only made the situation worse. I don't need to infer anything. It is clear that you guys think it is ok for cops to beat people, and I don't agree. And I didn't say anything about race.

Nowhere did I say, mention, or even acknowledge the snot beating or tazing.

You need to work on your reading comphrehension as my whole point revolves around the racial issue accusations involved. The Prof accused the officers of predjudice and racial profiling. It's not surprising the charges were dropped as they often are in these situations regardless of race.

But the second thing that is apparent and I haven't seen the latest reports, but I'll go out on a limb and say the Prof hasn't apologized for HIS Racist remarks and accusations. Until this double standard is put to rest in these situations, the country will never overcome this racist thing that is continually bittched about everytime the "wrong" person of color is involved in a situation where the police are doing their jobs.

What is really amazing to me is that in several incidences of this type with the aforementioned Quanell X in Houston, there have been black officers involved. Quanell sneaks this by and to me it's almost comical when he blows his horn on racially motivated police actions and there are black officers doing the act......

Next time you have a gripe with inequlaity or racial profiling I suggest you take it up with activists like Sharpton or Quanell that have turned this into the hate issue it's become.

I wonder why the officer refused to give his badge number and name?
Could be several things. Inaccurate reporting. Dramatization. Or perhaps there wasn't any need to give the info since the Prof/perp was likely handcuffed and in custody. The name and badge number was attainable off the arrest record.

What's your take?

If the officer was asked and did in fact refused to give his ID information I can't think of a valid reason why not to give it except to hide his name or spite. Just like the guy should have given his ID to the cop without a fuss.
