Of course it would deny them. Services to the elderly in order to keep them alive is what costs so much. That is what they need to do in order to save money. If every old person would die six months earlier, healthcare wouldn't be in such dissaray. sphss

It won't deny, but it will limit. Health care costs have skyrocketed over the past years. Everybody wants the latest and greatest technology. No longer do people want X-Rays....they want MRIs. This bill will reform the way you get health care by asking the question "is it cost effective to run another test". It will absolutely deny the best tests and the best care in order to control costs.

Most who oppose the so called Govt Health Care system state that the Govt can't do anything right including manage health care. If this is the case, then wouldn't it be a good thing for the Military to obtain private health care rather than rely on that terrible Govt run system that they have now.

Obama is correct to fire a shot across the bow of the seniors. Obama deserves bipartisan support in cutting the wasteful spending on old people. Interestingly, the AARP has not come out publicly against this, but you can be sure they working behind the scenes.

I am strongly against socialist meds, but what Obama is donig is rationing health care, which IMO is completely proper for old people, and is necessary under his plan.

Any life extending care will be weighed against quality of life, rigidly. That quality will be determined by Gov. guidelines.

The original post referred to denying health care to the elderly.

I happen to be of the belief that when my time has come, I don't want tests, IV fluids or feeding tubes to keep me alive. I also favor some forms for death planning and euthanasia in some terminal cases.

My point here was to make clear what the realities are. IMO, there is way too much BS being circulated by an elite few, that way to many accept as the gospel.

can bet there will have to be a recalibration of the existing longevity stats.

I also do not understand why people think that those folks making more than 250k per year should have to pay 5.4% tax to support this program. Many of those people will be small business owners who will also be penalized 8% if they don't offer the healthcare to their employees...I see that as screwing over this class of people coming and going.
I don't see how that is going to help the economy, I would reconsider my position if I was one of the above.

The military does have private healthcare. It's called Tricare. As a veteran I can assure you that before Tricare healthcare in the military was only available if you were in dire need.

Also, congress and the executive branch are exempt from the helath care plan. They continue with the current health care they receive.......private insurance paid for by you and I.

I think most people who are in opposition of socialized medicine realize that we, the USA, are a land of millions and millions of illegal immigrants. With all of these illegals, how the hell can the system work? The welfare system is failing miserably and the illegals are mostly to blame.
I will say this again. Obama will grant citizenship to the illegals to ensure his re-election IMO.

In Canada, according to Tom Brown, one must be a citizen and pay taxes(some of the highest in the world btw)to receive healthcare. Canada does not have the best healthcare in the world either.
I don't see the Illegal Meskins paying taxes even if they are granted citizenship.
