Hey guys,

I'm thinking about changing my setup a bit and I'd like to get some opinions. I haven't changed anything with the boat since I purchased it and I'm wondering if I can improve the performance a bit. Boat has a dominator pump with AT trim and rooster booster. The boat porpoises quite a bit at lower speeds with the diverter up(even just a little) and has been porpoising at higher speeds(50+) with the diverter in what I consider the "sweet spot". At lower speeds I'm able to trim out of the porpoising by trimming down or increasing speed. Does this all sound normal considering my setup and should I consider getting rid of the rooster booster in favor of a droop and some wedging??

I'd lose everything from the bowl back, get a regular AMT droop and place diverter. AMT stuff is nice but I dont like their diverter.

AT makes a droop that fits my AT diverter. Is it really going to make that much difference to purchase a Place Diverter over my current diverter??

Forgot to mention my rideplate is slightly warped as well. Could this be contributing to my problems as well??

Trim tabs would fix this. My aluminum boat has two small welded ones. They set back only 2" and are bendable with a rubber mallet. Makes a huge difference. When set right the boat throws a huge rooster tail with no bounce.

that'd be attractive:D

lose the roost booster and get a regular ole droop and divertor. my bud has that divertor and it sure limits ya on what hardware you can try.

That tip should go in the rigging school thread.

I agree. I wish the thing had a plain old Place diverter but it doesn't. I'm sticking with the AT diverter here. But I think I'll add the droop( the only one that will fit it:mad:)

How about my rideplate? Does the rideplate being warped, even slightly, create the kind of problems I'm having??

The rooster booster is a big part of your problem! Porpous is caused by the force of the water out of the nozzle causing lift in the bow! Kind of like lift and let go over and over. At WOT it is not as bad but with that degree of angle it has it will cause this! Ride plate should be as true as possible but I don't think it is the problem with your porpous!
It all depends on what you want a high rooster or a good ride! WT:)devil

My last boat had that exact pump SD309 with the AT "turbine trim"
it ate those bronze steering and pivot bushings at least twice during the season, when they got loose it caused porpoise because the nozzle
was moving around quite a bit. when I added a droop it made very little difference. the ride plate even with the keel was the best setting I found.

School me here. Where can I check for these steering and pivot bushings?? Also isn't my pump a dominator 12-s??

maybe its a dominator, is the transom adapter molded to the pump housing?
any way try and move the nozzle around by hand, if it has some play
check to see if the bushings are worn. # 1 in the diagram and #25

Try

Try turning the rooster booster 180*. It will lower your thrust line a little. If this helps maybe a full droop will improve more.

I'm just going to remove the rooster booster, attach the divertor/short snoot directly to the bowl. Looking at my steering tube/extension situation what do you guys think? Am I going to have to buy a shorter extension or do you think I can get away with what I got?? Looks like I might need a shorter extension but I might be able to make an adjustment at the steering tube. Any thoughts??

Mine doesn't ride any different with the rooster booster and another 2* of wedge. It won't hurt to pull it off and see if that fixes your problem. You can probably adjust your steering tube enough to the right length. Mine had just enough room to pull the extension out enough after I added those 2 things. P.S..if you end up ditching the rooster booster you can sell me that steering swivel :)

Thanks for the input. Swivel will be yours if I don't add the droop;)
