My day was cut a little short today....broke a comp cam chrome moly rocker. The reason for my post is I'm not positive it's the rockers fault. The retainer on this particular ex. valve has/had hit the rocker. Not sure if it did that when it let go, or if I have other issues. Should the stud girdle be pretty uniform on the trunions(I guess thats what the stud extension dealios are called). I can put up a pic of mine, they don't really look uniform to me. Any suggestions????

I agree on the Isky rockers.

Kreg,,, my first guess is that something else caused your rocker to fail, those have a pretty good reputation I think.
Thanks Barry ...what should I look for anyone?? Checked the lash a couple of weeks ago. Looking at the bottom of this broken piece of rocker, it looks like it's leaning to the broken side. I haven't seen the other side yet though.

Ditto on the Iskys...about the only aluminum rocker I'd use in an endurance app.
H20...there could be a number of things going on, but yes...all the adjusters should be very close to being the same, except to say the intakes may look a little different tnan the exhausts, but you should be able to lay a straight edge across all the intakes, and then across all the exhausts. If you can see a visual difference, then something's out of adjustment.
If everything was adjusted correctly, and you have rocker to retainer interfearance, then it should be that way on all of them. If none of the others are hitting, my guess would be the contact came with the failure.

Have you taken the rocker out to inspect?

Those have a replacement warranty BTW.

After I broke one, it was real evident why it broke. Looked a whole lot like what yours does, look at the metal where it broke.

Beat me to it, but that was my next question. Where did the rocker break, and what does it look like? Maybe post a pic?
ETA: How long did it run before it failed?

I haven't pulled what is left of the rocker yet. I've already seen the bodies have a lifetime guarantee. Not going there unless I think it's their fault/not my fault. I can put up some pics of the broken piece, what should I look for on the rocker???? Btw the broken piece was off the bottom of the rocker.

Mine had a flaw or pit in the casting.

Mine was also off the bottom of the trunnion.

is it my computer or is the valve stemm tip eat up

The valve stem isn't great, but that pic makes it look a little worse. I'll stick up another pic. Like I said, it looks like this retainer was hitting the rocker, what likely would cause that????

Not only does the valve stem look not so purdy, note the racing stripe on the side of the roller tip.

When it started to break it rolled over & hit the retainer.

I have some golds you are more than welcome to use till you hear back on this rocker aswell if you want.

Maybe you could pull the girdle so we can get a better look Kreg.
Thanks Paul ..I'll get her pulled tomorrow night. As bad as it sounded, I'm happy all I'm looking at is some rockers and maybe a valve(I hope).

Better take a good look at the pushrod and lifter as well.

This was my carnage from the weekend!
And it did bend the pushrod too! 5 Hrs. later back on the lake! WT:)devil Bearing failure caused this let rocker work off one side!
