Here is what I have run through my alpha, 383, 430 hp, 383,500 hp, 383,558hp. Never hurt the drive and I have never been nice to it.

Now I run a alpha SS drive with a 600+hp 428 sbc with no problems. 3000lbs 18.5' powerplay.

I guess sometimes you just have ta be lucky LOL!

Boat weight is important for longevity. Lighter the better, easy on the throttle and try not to grab air. Alpha's like to overheat and a drive shower is a must. Running a Alpha SS w/ 450 ponies and no problems on a 2800# boat.:D
