He would like to make 1000HP at 6000 on pump gas. What would you think this package should make?

Thats kinda what I was thinking. I been trying to talk him into a good set of heads, and cam, and forget about the boost number. He made over 1200hp with these longblocks with M4 prochargers and 16lbs of boost on the dyno. However, they didnt last in the boat. So now he is converting back to roots hoping to have a simpler, more reliable setup. Ive told him to forget about what they made with a procharger, because it wont make that with a roots. I think maybe with the right heads and cam he could hit his target. The flow numbers on those edelbrocks look awful, and the cam wouldnt be my pick for what he has there.

Not only is the cam a little small side, but the Eddy heads don't have the best exhaust port in the business and the boat doesn't exactly have dry stacks or zoomies, the intake/exhaust split seems a little close.

With a cam swap, and lets say a set of brodix or AFR heads with CNC chamber option, how much power would you say is on the table over the Edelbrock and cam combo he has now? :captain:

i've got some Dart Pro 1 345s assembled ready to run on .650"lift 1300$

and a billet solid roller cast iron gear comp cam .252/[email protected] on a 114 .650"lift 150$

Ran that same cam in my blown 475bbc with 320's and it ran awesome! With a pair of 750's idle'n rich it had a nice surge

If your putting a package together

Look at what Teague Marine does to run at the power levels you want !

Screw blower, less heat, more eff. The biggest inter coolers

A three stage raw water pump to keep things cool

Running pairs the EFI is real nice, I like the advantages and protection of integrated engine management that comes with the price tag

First off DO NOT run that much boost on a roots blower setup with 91 octane. I would say 9-10 lbs MAX even at under 8:1 compression. With a screw compressor you can run higher boost safely because of less heat generated. The gains are two-fold because a screw compressor also takes less horsepower to run....

With those heads and cam with a roots you are looking at 825-850 HP at 5700-5800.

With 355cc heads and a 632/632 256/264 cam and a screw compressor you could get 1000+ HP on pump gas.

That being said the configuration you described is not a bad setup. Wouldnt be my choice of carbs we would put on some holley 750 double pumpers, but otherwise a good 800 something horsepower pump gas setup. Just dont expect 1000...
