I have an Asus 10" with a Verizon 3g USB dongle w/built in 8GB MicroSD jump drive. LOVE IT. Best $250 computer purchase I ever made. The thing is small, light and decently strong, with a long battery life. It's my favorite of my 5 computers I own.

On the Verizon card, I have traveled from Riverside to the Valley; down to OC and back o Riverside without losing the connection; and that was over a 5 hour span of time.

I can't speak for the HP model, but I'm sure the HP, Asus and Acer are realtively the same. Get the 10" though, big difference.
I want one also, would be awesome to have while out looking at homes with clients. Could check statis of homes, if you find a drive by. Or do title searches..... I inquired with Verizon, even though I have internet service with the BlackBerry, you still have to purchase ANOTHER monthly plan. $ 39.00, 59.00 or a 199.00 a month... with so many mag-bits usage. I WANT one, but it sounds EXPENSIVE!

BTW.... a buddy just received one a few weeks back. Its a cool little lap top.

how many maga bites do you use....and how much is the wireless card a mo?
I have the unlimited $60 plan, card was free, and that is with a multi-line discount.

Expensive yes, but there are times when I'm out in the field and it is worth it's weight in gold.

I think netbooks are what people envinsioned when they created laptops. I laugh my azz off when I see people carrying around laptops the size of Samsonite suitcases.

I would check and see if it's made by HP or Asus. Asus is making an 8,9,10 & 11in units sold under about 10 different names. Asus they make a good little unit.

Also if you don't want to have a dedicated line for internet access most of the newer phones are EVDO capable and can be tethered.

You can do this, but typically you have to pay for a PAM (Phone As Modem) plan in order to theather the device.
Our only gripe with Verizon is sometimes ya don't get the display icon that you have voice mails waiting.

Other than that, excellent.
Works all across the channel from San Pedro to Avalon.

When you use your phone as modem you cannot use your phone.
I see that Verizon if offering a free netbook if you install home Fios.

Damn, wish they had it in my area; I'm stuck with AT&T and can't find a package that makes it worth the move from DirectTV and the Internet cable modem.
well so far so good with the HP Mini it is a doing a good job. Also the verizon 3G was faster then the wireless at the hotel I was staying in. :D:D

The only problem it does not come with Microsoft Office (word, excel etc) but a quick download fixed that since I had the disk
Not a fan of HP computers...glad it's doin' good for you...:)hand Might have to give the new Dell "mini" a look... The Asus has amazing batt life...
Asus is supposed to be cominbg out with a new netbook with built-in 3G...now that'll be a nice little package.
