Larry Elder Said It Best...

In the OLD DAYS, you'd go to a bank for a college loan. You'd say I want to borrow money to major in Art History and the bank would say, "Next!!!".

Sean Hannity was talking to some dummie who was 29 years old, owed the government 200,000 dollars, was unemployed and studying for a PhD in Sociology. Sean offered him a job at $12 BUCKS AN HOUR AND THE GUYS SAID, "HE WOULDN'T GO TO WORK UNLESS HE COULD MAKE $80,000 a year."

AMERICA HAS MASSIVE SOCIAL PROBLEMS AHEAD!

I think all the "sociologist" are banking on that Ron.
There was some asshole communist sociologist on the tube the other night that was spouting off that if the human race doesn't adopt the same work principal as "social" insects that we will parish. That means, in his own words, that we need to adopt the concept of "workers" that care for the "non workers" and the non workers cater to, and are cared for by the "queen" Workers NEED a purpose for working and that purpose needs to become for the welfare of those that do not work, but cater to the queen. :))eek:))

This country has lost its work ethic. It was termed the "protestent work ethic" by a guy named Max Weber at the turn to the 20th century. Before then, it was the "powers" that believed human kind florished under empirical rule and worked for the good of the society.
The idea fell apart with the start of the protestent movement, and the world saw it greatest gowth in industry, and medicine in history.

These asshats like ram, zombie, CVX, 1986, shueman and R&D have this undying desire to haul this country back to the dark ages and empirical rule, and this current asshat is their first messiah towards that goal.
More bibles are printed and read in China than any country in the world, and WHO is the U.S. and the rest of the world in debt to?
China workers have a better work ethic than the U.S., because the U.S. is full of OWSers, and their supporters, and 47 million and rising CVXs and zombies working for the benefit of the "queen"

The socialist majors think WE owe them that education, and should pick up the tab because they LEARNED how to save man kind from himself.

I have "Huge College Debt" and no shortage of opportunity. However, the debt giant does looms and it's a little scary but is what it is. People should have got a degree in something that produces.

That's bullshit because the MAXIMUM you can borrow from the govt if you are studying for a graduate degree is $138500.

Regardless. The Gov should not be in the business of loaning money for education. The tax payers are not a bank. Hopefully if and when the SC throw's out the HC bill that little bullshit law they created within it, that had nothing to do with HC, will be tossed with it.

I seem to recall that the subject in question voiced the $ amount, not Hannity.
I guess that makes the lazy fuck "student" a liar also?
Seems about right.

If that $138,500 is true, seems that the clown would be more apt to accept the job offer, since it isn't SUCH an insurmountable amount as $200K??

So you prefer the government just giving the money to the banks to loan out like it was before the HC bill so the banks get to collect the student loan interest instead of the government making the loans and collecting the interest which is what happens now?

Schools should be financing their own product. It would give them some incentive to make sure the students actually get what they pay for in the shortest amount of time and the least amount of overall waste.....Schools wouldn't be loaning any money on an education that that has a limited future and would be all about selling product that will get them their money back asap.
And it might help reduce the overall cost of an education.
I'm still confused as to why they have books for each class

Seems kinda illogical....government zooming my tax dollars so they can lend it to someone who might take half a lifetime to repay...
School gets their money....government spent my tax dollars on a long term gamble with limited returns...money that should have been spent paying bills.

That is not completely true. Many banks made private loans for education that was not backed by the Gov. As far as I know the gov has made it so the banks cannot do this anymore so as to take the whole thing. Also correct me if I'm wrong. If the banks handle all the loans and personel for making, collecting on, and monitering the loans they keep the intrest as payment for doing so. Now if the gov does all of this do we not have to create another gov department and staff it to do what the banks did. Now the tax payers have to pay for another gov entity that will no doubt cost way more than it should(or not at all if the banks handle it) as gov never can do anything as cost effective as the private sector. And I'd bet my bottom dollar the profit earned on the interest wouldn't even come close to covering the costs of another Gov dept.

I don't recall the dickwad in question borrowed all the money from the government. Since this guy was/is a perpetual student I'm surprised that it was only $200K and I would bet dollars to donuts he has no intent on repaying his loans. So much for "Your word is your bond" and doing business on a handshake.

It is true Marvin. Before it was changed the govt gave the money to private banks to lend and the banks got to keep the profit from interest but took no risk. Now the government lends the money and gets to keep the interest. Private banks still provide loans, that hasn't stopped, it's just only with their own money and not with free govt money. Students borrow the government money first like they always have because they have fixed interest rates and some interest can be deffered as opposed to the private money because that is lent with a variable rate and interest is not deferred. Students can borrow up to the limit ($12500 a year) in govt money and then if they need more, they will borrow the private money, just like they did before the govt got rid of the middleman with the new system.

OK but it seems you ignored the rest of my post. Do you think the gov will be able to staff all the people and buildings and equipment to review, approve, track, collect payments of these loans for the cost of just the interest it recieves back ? As it was the Gov may have been putting the money out but it was sub contracting all the work to the banks. And as payment the banks kept the interest. I seriously doubt the gov will be able to cover all the costs of the thousands of emplyees it will have to hire and all the opperating costs with just the interest it recieves in turn. More burdon will be placed on the tax payers.

How do you know many employees it will take for this program? Most of the work is actually done by the financial aid departments of universities. They're the ones that determine eligability and distribute the funds. The repayment process is largely automated because from what I've seen, payments are automatically deducted from your bank account. The application process and account monitoring is all done online. On top of that, even if a small number of people are needed, think of all the student loan debt - they say the amount is greater than all of the consumer debt in the US. The interest from that can easily pay the salaries of the people required and then some.
