Went to renew my driver license and they did a nationwide check. Turned up a suspension in MA from 1987! That's was right when I moved out west and I don't remember getting it. Anyway, I had to call them, an hold for over an hour and get disconnected! :|err Call back and on hold for 1&1/2 hours before finally picked up. Speeding ticket from 1987. Is there no friggin' statue of limitations on a ticket? I guess not. Anyway, had to FedEx a check to them to clear it up. What I don't understand is why did it take 22 years for it to show up?:)sphss

I think a lot of the DMVs didn't talk to each other...but as computers and systems got more integrated, the more info they shared. MA left it on the books in case you came back, but they got their $$$ anyway.
I think they should suspend your boating license as well. :D

Just think...if you would have taken care of it when you got it.....you wouldn't have been soooooooo inconvenienced trying to renew your license. ;):)
My math skills are piss poor, so maybe I'm wrong, but when I subtract 1987 from 2009, I don't get 27.:D

Uh, thanks for the tip! :D I would have taken care of it when I got it if I actually ever received it. They are saying it was a speeding violation in a vehicle that I did not own. They do not have a copy of a signed ticket in my name. They have no record of me actually getting the ticket. I could fight it as the officer may be retired by now! Not worth the trouble so I just sent them a check.

My math shows 2009 minus 1897 would be 112
But my math is also piss poor

What? Me neither (I get 112). Have you been drinking? :D:p
I got one in Az about 10 years ago and even paid it but when I went to renew my license I found out. Same thing. Called got the run around a couple times until I finally found someone who knew what I was talking about. Of course I no longer had proof I paid the ticket so you can guess what I had to do next. :)st

Ha! See what I get get for making fun of other people's typos.:D

...or possibly I just thought I would ask a random math question totally unrelated to the thread.

Inflation being what it is they got screwed no way $50.00 - 2009 dollars are worth the same as $50.00 1987 dollars, cleaver, good financial move.

I would have told them to piss up a rope, no proof, no signiture, not even a vehicle I owned....I would have never sent them a check, if nothing more just on principle.
I had an outstanding deal in the state of NY that was 17 years old. Called just like you did thinking the worst. The nice lady took a look at the date and just wiped it clean with the push of a button. It didn't cost me one dime (but 2 DMV trips).
I was a lucky mofo that day.

Exactly, if they can show proof of me actually recieving it, I would send a check out that day, no big deal, if they couldn't...well sticks for them.

It's like me going to the lotto office and saying, I won Mega Millions 6 weeks ago, they say show me the ticket, I tell them, No dont have it but I did 6 weeks ago I just cant find it....Now pay up!!!
this happened to me twice this year. both times in torrance. both tickets dismissed . both sent to collections . same thing tried to call bu that's use less. I had to go down to the court ,stand in line, and show them that they were both dismissed. before i could renew my license and get them out of collections. they wanted almost 1300 dollars . imagine if i didn't still have the paper work. they would've extorted 1300 bucks from me and i'd have to take it.
It must be a new thing i just got nailed on driving on a suspsended licence from a seat belt ticket from 2000. I guess im lucky it was only 120.00
We registered our new 2005 Cad ESV to our home in California, because we bought it there. We live in Havasu and drove the car here, the first day we had it. 3 years later, California Board of Equalization REMOVES 3 years of registration fees from one of our Calif. bank accounts. It was over 1K and when I found out (thru bank statements) I was on fire (en fuego vatos!) The car had been legally registered in Az. for those 3 years and the states had not bothered to notify each other. The bank also charged me $100 to TAKE MY MONEY. Fought with the Calif. DMV and Calif. Tax people for three months. NEVER got the $100 back from the bank, even though I gave them proof that the Calif DMV and Tax Board were at fault. "The state can just take your money at any time for any reason!"
This happened to me too, I just slipped Boatcop a 100 bucks and it disapeared..:)devil
