I really needed to refurbish my boat interior but didn't want to give an apholstry shop $1200 to $1400. I bought some seats from a speed catalog and made my own frames out of steel. The seats were too tall so I shortened them some and took the old interior unit out and made an engine front cover out of plywood and covered it with carpet. Now I can get at the front of the engine by taking out that panel. The best part is now the boat weighs 60 lbs. less than before even though I added floor carpet. That old cocktail seating arrangement was really pretty uncomfortable for the people in the back anyway. I will save the old interior insert in case it ever needs to be returned to original. Here are some before and after pictures.
