Hooli,

You worked for TransCanada (I thought they were the largest in Canada)? I use to work for Enbridge, they might have some positions open, not for sure of your location though? They were a great company to work for, they just ended up selling off our pipeline. Sure miss working for them.

No man, I contracted to Suncor as a consultant. They bought Petro Canada and are now the largest. I'm on the completion and work over side. I have a few overseas opportunities right now, just not a fan of having to travel for 15 hours to work :D

Ahh gotcha, well good luck, hopefully prices rise this winter. I dont work on that side of it, im strictly main line gas transmission and involved in the measurement field. But also a ex pipeliner, welder helper and gas controler..Go off shore in the gulf, lots of jobs out there. I also have a buddy that works for shell he works out of Thailand, he enjoys it. He really enjoys BangCock. :)devil

Nat gas prices will pick up , It will just take a while after prices go up and reserves start getting used. Shell is a great company but they want employees instead of consultants. They don't pay so great either, I would be making 50% less when I worked ...that's here in Canada anyways. If they hired consultants I would take a look at them . There are quite a few jobs over seas right now for sure and the pay is typically a hundred bucks a day more over there with the right companies and in US funds. Alot of the guys over there right now are doing between 1500 and 1800 a day US. It's just a matter of playing the game now and waiting.

High pressure deep sour gas wells. I turned down a few offshore offers as I can run a lot faster than I can swim:p

Yeah, no doubt I dont blame you there, sour gas is some bad bad stuff. I dont work on any of that, but when I worked in Houston we had a couple of sour plants and I always worried about those guys, we probably called them to much to check on them to make sure they were still alive, but most controllers were once field techs and knew how bad that stuff was and how it doesnt take much to put someone down to meet there maker. Our MAOP on our line is around 1100 psi max and with reduction stations in KC metro our MAOP goes down to 695 psi. I wish you good luck in finding a new gig..Just a quick question since your up north, do you know much about the Oil Sands, I have done some research on it, and find it rather interesting especially when in the US parts of Utah, Colo, etc etc, have the Green River oil reserves, its just a matter of $$$ imagine that to get it drawn out of the ground? This oil is considered the Oil shale reserves...Currently alot of small companies are trying to make a play off of coal bed methane gas but they arent lasting long and eventually are turning sour. They started back when gas was 8+ per mcf but now are folding like crazy.
