i was south bound south of the sandbar and i was riding down the middle but on my side of the river. i look over my shoulder and i see some big machines coming. big roost and all. i politely moved over to my right some more to allow these guys plenty of room cause they were all three of them doing over 100. i was cruising around 50. as all 3 past us we waved and gave thumbs up cause who cant appricate a 100+ machine. these inconsiderate peeps not only did not wave back but i didnt even get a thank you nod for politley getting out of there way. something of which i did not have to do. but as a courtious boater i moved for the faster guy. what ever happened to common friendlyness on the water ways. no one waves any more and alot are just outright rude. and the more expensive the boat the more snootie they get. it takes all of half a second to wave back. the only reason this bothers me is cause i look right in the face of every driver while they waved and they just looked back at me like there shizz didnt stink and how dare i be boating on there river. i will not say what kind of boats these were but im sure you all can guess with out any problems

so true... I drive my boat down the river waving to every boater, swimmer, floater that looks my way, but it seems like more often than not the big $$ boats are too cool to wave. However the family man in an 88 Bayliner always gives a big smile and wave.

In 2001 I was at Parker with my Cole flat bottom and a buddy of mine pulls up in his new 27' Raysoncraft with a big pro-stock scoop and blower motor. As we cruised up and down the river I remember noticing how everyone was waving at us, and I thoroughly enjoyed giving each one of them the coors light salute

i don't want this to be a DCB bash i have two friends with DCB's this goes for any and all who find it necessary to not be courteous. in the 9 years ive been a boat owner ive gradually seen a decline in river courtesey.

I'd have to agree with rvrluvr here. I don't care if there are no boats around, when I'm running, one hand is on the sticks and the other is on the wheel. :)devil I'm sure the courtesy was appreciated even though there was no wave!!!:)hand:)hand:)hand

I do my best to both wave and teach my kids to wave, but at 100+ I don't wave, in fact at 50mph and traffic in front of my I still don't wave... don't be offended but at those speeds and depending on traffic ahead stuff happens quickly and larger boats take longer to slow...

hil:) Oh that never gets old. I swear you could use that line for EVER!
You know, it's kind of like the ol' "Hotboat has a magazine?" routine. Right now there are people kicking themselves because they didn't get to be the first one to post that. ;) :p

He never said what they were driving. Maybe they were Cheetahs and the other hand was on a Phillips, putting back the drywall screws!!!

I don't need a friendly wave or a happy face, but some type of acknowledgment that you see us as your blowing by at 100+
The way things are going in that part of the lake, a speed limit is not far off.

it was not the lack of waving it was the shizzy look they gave me as they blew past me. they looked right at my boat prob at my wifes friends giant rack. they just had that look. i may have only noticed it cause i was stone sober. if i was buzzed or drunk it prob would have just rolled off my shoulders no big deal. i am not mad at these guys and im not nessicarily directing any of this at them. it just made me realize how not so friendly the waters have been becoming over the years. thats all there is no disrespect intended to anyone directly.

Why should the peeps that blow by you on the freeway have any more respect on the water??? It has gotten to the point of NO COMMON COURTESY anywhere!!!

I was at that market tonite and had a great example. Two buffed dudes and a hottie. They were standing outside the door talking about buying some food. Both of the dudes had wigs on!!!!!!! Curly, almost mullets!!! I pushed my cart back in the rack and and dude says I will take that C***sucker!! I turn around and say " sounds like you need it to be civil". His response was that I must be a mean guy. My response was " buy some mouth wash and call your Mother"

Left him standing there!!!!!

I am almost 59 yo and COMMON COURTSEY has gone by the wayside!!!!!!!!!!!! When I give some one money at a store and they say " have a nice day" I get pissed!!! What happened to thank you?? I just helped pay your wages!!!

Open a door for someone, guy or gal. Just be courteous!!!!

My apology for this rant!!! Someone better start teaching their kids this NOW, or it will get worse.

What have we got??? Eight or nine generations of welfare babies. Something has to change, or it will be a sad situation in a very few years:|err
