My 82 bahner has Harman marine power 454, has rect port heads, 4 bolt block, steel crank and 7/16 rods, looks almost like a LS6 motor, just some info to consider.

Truck motor. Had one. Peanut port heads, 2 bolt main, 3/8 rods, cast crank. Flat tapper cam. The 330 hp version was bone stock truck motor. The option for the 365 hp or 425 hp version came wthe rect port heads 4 bolt main, steel crank, 7/16 dimple rods.

Those were the options in 1988 from indmar marine that came from eliminator boats. Those motors in stock form are notorious for running flawlessly for 20+ years without a hiccup:)

i didnt buy the motor new, it is the stock engine from 1983 with under 200 original hours. and has never been opened up. i just freshened up the pump (and added a split bowl, droop, loader, and shoe and rideplate) and with an A impeller, i can only turn it 4500rpm. so according the chart, im only around 300hp.

Sounds like it is right where is should be for that motor. I'm guessing an A impeller. In that form that combination should be good to go for several more boating adventures. Those upgrades to the pump are great places to add more mph and performance. You may experiement with shoe depth and loader ramp length to gain more speed. I'd imagine you'll see 55 to 60 mph with that combo.

Just tore down the motor from my Bahner, it had 400 hours on it. It looked brand new inside, pistons had no scuffing crank like new. Mic'd the bores only .001 wear after all these years. Going to give it a hone job, coat pistons, rebuild rods with good bolts, balance, hyd roller cam, new valves and performance valve job. I think ill get another 20 years out of her!!

well thanks for the info guys! i have headers that im waiting to put on and all i want is a new rpm air gap manifold to wake things up just a bit. tune it, then hopefully run it for years.
i was asking about the heads because i want a new manifold and didnt want to drive an hour away where i keep the boat to pull a valve cover. looks i will anyways just to be certain.
