Say you had a 12.5:1 468, A 10.5: 496 and A 9.5:1 509 BB2 PLUS heads cam shaft 258/268 @.05 and .680/.70 lift 110LS and 2-750,s witch one would make the most HP? The 509 having a 4" crank.

Probably the 468, maybe the 496, but not the 509.

Fir fun I just ran some numbers. The engine build software I use says 798 for the 468, 791 for the 496 and 781 for the 509. It's not a sim. program like DTD, it's more of an engine design program.

The 468 motor race gas or mixture of it
the 496 premium gas
the 509 could get away on 87-89
Each motor makes power but at what cost of fuel and can you get it where you want to boat ?

Me I would run the 509 and add a big nitrous w/ alky if I need the extra power
from time to time

468 hands down with that cam. 700hp on Gears dyno.Just ran a 475. Same basic cam, AFR 305s with cnc chambers and single 1050. Made [email protected]

Numbers are a little high for what your talking about. a 509 with 9.5 compression making 781 hp not on you life. Dream on.

It was just showing trends. All I changed in the program was the bore/stroke and compression. I didn't even change fuels, so it's not going to be very accurate.
And FWIW...even with 9.5:1, you put a TR and the right cam with those heads, turn some rpm, and I guarantee you can make 780 hp. If you can't, you need to find another way to make a living.

Grady a 13-1 496 is a great combo Tint loves his!!!

Dad is going to build a spare 496 13-1.

we loved the pump gas 498 we had!!!

just build something!!!!!!!!!!!!:partyguy:

your Dyno must be very close to the one we go to.

Numbers are always lower than anyone elses.

yet they Perform wonderfully :hmmm:
