I always High Tack (Spray Tack) one side and use mineral oil (vacuum pump oil) on the other side, the High Tack keeps the gasket from squirming while you put to together and most times allows you to re use the gasket once or twice if doing some serious breaking while trying to get a setup dialed in.:)bulb

The grease idea seems interesting, but I have never used it.

grease it both sides
Double ditto on that!!! I will not use a sealer on the pump to housing gasket as I have pulled the apart when a adhesive sealer has been used and not real happy by the time it pops loose. There maybe disagreement on this but I have never seen or had a leak at the suction housing to intake. So it appears you have the pump back and will be ready to get wet soon. Send a P.M. or drop a dime you know me " I'm in " M

x3, i've got 3 or 4 suction gaskets in my workbench that i ordered thinking i was gonna need 1 during a overhaul for someone. most never tore cause they were greased, so i just reused em. i do bowl/droop gaskets the same way.

Greased it...pump is in...its hot outside so I'm planning on drinking beer for the rest of the day.

We'll finish it up tonight when it cools off or in the morning.

Marc. I'll give you a call later. I might try to come out there and pick that stuff up Sunday or Monday night.
