Hey guy i have a berkeley intake in my colorado custom v bottom boat. Its set perfectly at 4* and is straight and evenly centered with the strakes. The only deal is that its a couple of degrees off side to side but it matches the bottom front of the intake perfectly. Is this dangerous, like it might give me a nasty hook? It has been shoed and has a ride plate as well. Run it this way last year to 80mph and had no problems so i'm thinkin its fine.

Few boats are perfect when new, even fewer are perfect as they age. I've found that its all a compromise when setting an intake. The process of measuring and fine tuning the jack screws prior to setting it really accentuates the flaws in the hull. Id see how off balance it is by laying a 3-4. Ft level on the intake and see how far off you are at the first strakes (compare both sides). If you are comfortable with the number, let it go(should be within 1/8-1/4" id think). If you are planning on going faster, consider fixing.

Just my. 02. Others may disagree.

Let me add...ALL measurements must be taken from the underside of the hull...anything inside is like using a level on a boat on rough seas

Are you saying it's in crooked from side to side? How did you figure that?? I've seen boats haul ass with them in crooked but personally I'd fix it.

All of my measurements have been from under the boat except the side to side one. Dont really know how to go about it. I just leveled the stringers and then got my measurement. If you got a good eye and stand back you can see it sittin a lil crooked. I measured to the nearest strakes like Brendella said and it was about 3/8 of an inch different. Thats to the second set of strakes cuz the first ones do not go all the way back. Thanks for the imput guys.

Ignore the stringers. They are made of wood and are not perfectly straight. That is why motor mounts are adjustable.

If mine was out of whack that much, and if the boat was apart, id fix it. Being that summer is here, if the boat is in running condition now, make it a winter project.

If it effects your driveability, then I'd say fix it.
For example my intake was about 1/2" out of center of the boat and I couldn't do left turns without it wanting to spray me in the face.
If your driveability is fine, fix it in the winter.

This is how I set my intake's left/right tilt. My hull was hanging off the rear bunks several inches...then I used the straightedge clamped to the intake and made adjustments to the intake so the gaps were the same. In my case 3 &3/16" made it even(understand?)
Also...notice the string line hanging off to the left....that was secured 4' in front of and dead center of the rounded keel. And the other end of the line was held steady and tight by something heavy like an old engine block...any way > The string line and center marks under the hull and intake gave me the reference for intake depth and center-line. It was set with the tapered shoe in place but NO SHIMS. You can just see the center penile mark that I used as a guide. The bottom pic shows how I marked the center of the keel and the intake etc....Just imagine a very taut string line under there when I was setting and adjusting the intake's depth and center.
Note...the very bottom pics shows the the square piece of hull I cut out to do the set-back...I ground it clean of all gel coat etc and used it with Sea Going Poxy Putty to help fill the front >that tip can from MPD ;)

Well thanks for the input guys. I have no driveability issues so it will prolly stay just the same till i get alot of time to work on it. Thanks hammer your way make alot of sense. Now i got another question for ya whats the differance between what i've got now and for instance the boat with only the driver and a full tank of fuel on the driver side? Its gonna be alot heavier on one side. Or does it not matter once its on plane? Just a thought. Thanks guys.

Every boat is gonna handle differently. A little boat like mine really gets effected by weight. I draw off the drivers side tank first and then the passenger side.
