So I know this has been covered, buttttt..... we are planning a trip to lake Mohave in mid August. So far our available choices of places to stay are Katherine's Hotel, or the El Rey in Searchlight. Cottonwood is booked solid. We are 9 people (4 adults 5 kids). We have a 28' Nordic and 2 3-seater seadoos.

What would you do?

Harrah's is ok. We used to stay there allot. They have a big parking lot across the street for bigger boats. If it isn't crowed, you might be able to park in the structure top by the casino.

The cottages at Katherines were ok 10yrs ago, no idea now.

Good luck.

the casinos are good. ive never had a security prob there. if you stay at the belle or the edgewater they have plenty of parking and roving security the aqurius is nice. all you need is a roof over your head and good food the only thing bad is KL sucks if its busy i usally go down to telephone cove to launch its a narrow steep ramp but away from KL craziness.

The Tropicana Express had "roving security " also , but my boat got jacked in the middle of the night to the tune of over $7k ... Don't leave anything valuable in it and cover it securely !!

If you stay at KL they will be able to secure you a slip and then you can just leave the boat in the water. I have never stayed there but friends have and they were sufficient. You have grass outside, can BBQ right there, walk down to your boat, not have to mess with the launch lines, etc. If you want something more comfortable as far as a room go to the casinos but then you have to mess with the launch lines becuse chances are you won't be able to get a slip. 30 foot slips are very limited out there.

The only place I would stay up by Cottonwood is CC and since they don't have any rooms I would just ride my boat up there from KL.

You are probably going to be out when monsoons are threatening also. Based on that I would like to be able to quickly check on my boat from time to time if it is in a slip.

Had 4 full 5 gal gas cans ripped off from my jet ski trailer at the Riverside. Yes, They were locked to the trailer. More dirt bags on the North side of the Riverside than South side. It didn't matter because I was ripped off on the south side. good luck.

casino's

DO NOT launch a 28' boat at telephone cove
the water level does not drop for a long way out
go to princess cove if long lines at katherines

or look for a house to rent in BHC (off the BH parkway or river front)
