:|errI am having a boat that has nothing but problems, the same problems over and over. I am wondering if there is especailly for a used boat bought from a dealership about six months ago. Not knowing the past of this boat. I was able to get ahold of the original owner and the reason why he got rid of the boat was for the same problems I am having with the boat. The boat is on it fourth motor as we speak. three with him and one with me and we seem to have the same problem with the new motor.I hope there is someone that can help me with this cause this boat I believe is crap??? Don't know if I will be able to take care of this boat cause of this reason...already put to much into the problem as it is.
theres got to be something to comparison to cars to protect you.
If anyone has any idea's or have been through this let me know.:)devil need all the help I can get

Don't know about lemon laws, but...

I assume the boat is a jet? What are the problems you've had with the 4 motors? Generally speaking a jetboat is a pretty simple animal. I don't really understand how a poorly built boat would cause the motor to keep going away. Unless it keeps knocking the thrust out or water lines are not plumbed properly or something along those lines. Seems like it would be an easy problem to cure.

Who is building these motors? Might want to talk to them about the cause.

I'm confused. Your other 5 posts are better grammar and mostly about your dad racing jet boats. Seems like you would have a pretty good understanding of them as well as some connections from the names you mentioned. Not trying to start anything just seems a little strange. :)eh:)

A "motor" is a pretty complex and multi faceted "thing", whats the exact common denominator in other words what exactly has failed in all these engines . Internal combustion engines "in and of themselves" don't just "fail" theres always a pathelogical root cause . Folks here are very Savy and knowledgeable Please give some specifics Tom

ps Also did you buy the boat "As Is" or did you recieve a written warranty or guarranty were there promises made or represented ? by my estimation (depending on the boats value) The fact that the seller has stepped up three times is relevant just curious and would like to help

pss FWIW there are laws and statutes regarding nearly any type sales repairs and work in the California codes

No lemon laws for used. Ever hear the term "buyer be ware".
there are still peeps around selling good used boats though;) i sold a hella of a buy last nite i thought, the motor/pump had less than 45minutes on it since i went thru it all.matter o facto, the last 4 jetboats i've built and sold are still running the motors i built and have never had issues yet:D i sell boats when they're at their peaks though, there's no better time to sell a jetboat than when everything is fresh:)bulb

if you're goin thru motors its either 2 things, a shit builder or improper maintenance by the owner;)

Not so much on the maintainance thing, but the rigging or set-up on a jet is a make or break deal. A perfect motor can be smoked in five minutes if set-up is wrong. if it's not caught, the re-occuring problems will persist, till the root is found.

Thanks for everyone's advice, sorry about the grammar I was half asleep. The thing about this boat is that I KNOW I can fix it with some help, but these problems are just going to re-occur again in the future while in my possesion, like they have multiple times since the boat has been built.
This was the first time that I have boughten a boat from a dealership so I was wondering if there is something to protect the buyers, like the "Lemon Law" that I had mentioned previously, something like they have for vehicles....just asking......:)sphss

Best thing you can do when buying anything is have the seller write or sign what you are buying in good operating condition. Ask alot of questions concerning detains. This way if there is a history of failer that was not disclosed, you have the right to get them to fix, give your coin back or even sue for 3 times the amount. Its important to have any issue on paper. If the seller will not sign dont buy.

Lemon law for cars comes in handy, only because of how extremely complex cars are now a days. there are so many different systems, especially safety related and all are extremely intertwined. problem cars are possible, simply because they are so complex and can have a specific problem that is extremely difficult to find, causing excessive downtime and/or reoccurring fault.

Boats are the complete opposite. the different systems in a boat are so simple and straight forward, that its very difficult for me to believe you or anyone else could have a "lemon" boat. you may have a pile of crap, but not a lemon. i also am having a difficult time believing that something about the boat could cause the engine to fail not 1 time but 4 times. that just doesn't make any sense that some fault about the boat is causing engines to blow. i'd believe you need a new engine builder, but not a new boat.

i think most people are probably thinking similar to myself, which is why i would like to know what exactly happened that apparently keeps happening. i will say that if you really want the boat bought back, then you need to cost that dealership more money than it'd cost to buy back. I know a guy that believed he bought a lemon car from a used car dealer...which it may have been, but whether it was or not, he wanted the dealership to buy it back and when they said no, he picketed the dealership for 3 weeks straight. he cost them enough business and tarnished the dealers reputation to potential buyers so badly, that they decided it wasn't worth the fight and gave him his money back. thats your best shot if you really want it bought back.

the only way is if its not safe then call the coast guard, they saved a friend years ago when he bought a new jet boat that wasn't set up right it would spin out, they kept trying to fix it and he called the goast guard they got him out of the payments and made them cut it up so they could not sell it again

It may be the boat but you going to need to tell us what is happing to the engines to get help, good luck getting them to return your money there like the government money goes in nothing comes out. Between the already stated thrust problem and plumbing, if you have bent rods its exhaust positioning. And if its to lean due to the same carb being on top all four times. Please give us something so if some one else is having the same problem everyone can at least help them.
