Hi Folks,

A few of you know me from being part of the scene over the last 20 years or so. I haven't been around all that much. In fact, I looked at my old boat and saw that the last reg. tags were from 2005, and it probably never saw the water that year. Too sad.

So, a couple months ago I picked up the Hallett being sold by Are You Living. After hearing of the history of this boat, I figured it was my kind of project. There was definitely an X-Factor to what the motor really was. After pulling it apart and examining what was done... Well, let's just say it made a good core. After Bill's experience with a cam failure, the whole thing was needing to be disassembled and inspected. So, I start over.

Took it to Tim Morgan for his assistance in getting it prepared for a return to the water.

Basically, starting from scratch. Here are some pictures of the parts that have been prepared and are ready for re-assembly...

Heads should be ready soon. They are getting a pretty good going over. I'm excited to build this and get it out on the water. Should be stout.

If anybody has a proper 8 or 10 qt. oil pan for a BBF, I'm seriously looking. Trying to save a few pennies where I can. Definitely spending, I hope, in the right places.

Thanks for watching. I'll post more images as progress is made. I've got plans for the Monterey historics and such this weekend and I'm almost bummed by it because finding time to work on this beast is now a pressing matter.

Any helpful suggestions are appreciated. Tim Morgan has been fantastic to work with through this process. I swear he has spent about 7 hours with me talking through each phase and each decision. He really wants to build the motor you want to run, and he LOVES to build boat motors. I'm glad he's doing my work.

Jim.

Nice Boat, I like it. It looks like somebody took good care of it. Get it done the summer is going quick. Good luck.

Good looking boat Jim! I've heard a lot of good things about Tim Morgan over the years but have never used him myself. Now get back to wrenching so you can join us at New Melones next month!

Thanks, Cas. Hope to see the crew again soon. I'm trying to squeeze the work in. Still waiting on the heads to be done. I've got so much going on right now. I think HallowRoost is a better bet. I assume you guys still do that.

Man, I know I've seen a Hallett mini cruiser just like the one in the above photos.
Where could that have been? Hurry up and get that engine finished.

He'll be making the trip up from SoCal next month to join us at New Melones. Here's a picture of his boat that I believe he said [email protected] took-

really good looking boat unlike the owner :D
Thanks Steve. Vince said we are at Glory Hole this year but are we in Iron Horse or Big Oak camp sites?

Jim, get that Hallett finished. I look forward to you meeting me. LOL

I'll be pleased if I can get my junk looking half that good. This year, it's motor. The rest will come with time. My schedule got shuffled yesterday. I may in fact be ready for New Melones.

I'm pretty excited about this whole affair. Even though Tim says my boat won't be good for more than 50 mph. I think it might do a little better than that.
