what kind of loader grate should i put on my boat.i have a 79 mach1 with a berkeley jg and a droop snoop.im running about 550hp and im sucking air at high rpms and it blew the hand hole off and i almost sunk

I have seen pictures of your boat.There is a lot of performance to gain.I would take your boat to either Jack of MPD OR SHOEMAKER.I do not see any ride plate,my guess you do not have any shoe in your boat.you may need a back cut shoe for some lift.The loaded will help keep your jet stay loaded with water.They will need your boat there to measure off the bottom to get you close and what type of blocker/loader you may want.Do you have a inserts on the outlet of the jet? I dont see a pump support bracket.How about a INDUCER to load the pump also?I would drill and tap for a fitting to take inlet pressure to get your intake set up right with the problems you have had in the past.Take your boats to a performance jet boat shop to get it right the first time.I have run Jacks stuff for many years with zero headaches.Good luck.The boat looks nice

You may be thinking about a loader rather than a rock grate.

I think breaking the handhole and breaking the bolts is a sign youve got issues, need to see some pics or its hard for us to help you.

I blew the cover off my pump as well. I was loading and then unloading the pump. I put an "SE" loader from Hardin Marine on my pump with no shoe and I have not had any problems since. I actually have seen much better performance from my boat as well because is staying loaded. You can step up to the "SS" loader but you may need to do some other mods to the pump if you get any bogging. If you blew the cover off the pump while running completely in the water and not bouncing it out of the water at speed then you might have other issues. Hope that helps!

shock loading !

Once you deal with the "Shock loading" issues which very likely do relate to your loader (or lack thereof) among other things you'll probably want to give some thought to a reinforcing plate across the top of the cover and/or buying a "Meiresh" type cover as well these type of cover retainer bolts (thicker and stonger) Pleased to hear your OK and didn't sink ,I've done it a few times Tom

ive broke bolts and covers from gettin' er dun. now if i could just keep the connecting rods in the motors i build. oh ya need a job too.

I've got a suggestion, STOP BUILDING MOTORS!!! That might help keep the connecting rods in them.bulb

thanks guys for the help.i called mpd and he is going to made me a custom loader grate and a ride plate and shoe and that is going to fix my problem
