I have a 89 Carrera Elite, with a Mercruiser alpha one gen one. with the thunderbolt ignition system and i need a new coil.

Do i have to get a thunderbolt coil from mercruiser or can i just go get one from the parts store?

The Mercruiser coil is a very good product. We actually use them in other that Merc applications

Its not that i have anything against mercruiser. its that no one in my town sells anything from mercruiser and i'm tired of ordering online.

I ended up ordering a new one. no it was the coil. my engine is running but the nagative nut and postive nuts are stripped on the threads so the wires are loose and i cant get them to tighten. so i just wanted to get it fixed before i do have a problem.
