Who's got some ideas/suggestions for this scenario:

We lake test alot of boats and would like to setup a POV dash cam to record the runs. I'm figuring a suction mount on the passenger side. Hardware has to be easy to use for the driver; push one button, auto-focus, etc.

Lots of choices and pricing out there. I'm thinking entry level right now to see what we get. GoPro and Oregon Scientific seem to fit the bill.

Thanks in advance for your input.

I'm real happy with the Gopro, my kit came with a suction cup mount too. The best thing about the camera is that it's all self contained, no wires, external batteries, mics.. Even water proof.. SD cards are easy to handle too.. It's got some cool features like snapping 5 photos at a time and will take pics with adjustable intervals, you can mount it upside down. Just tons of options, very versitile for a inexpensive selfcontained camera.. Only real downfall is that they eat lithium batteries, and they aren't cheap.

I just ordered one. You look at the price and kinda ask yourself how good could it be. About how long will the batteries get you? Good to hear you have had good luck with it.:)devil

Thanks...does your GoPro have a LCD screen for "sighting" up the shot...??
No LCD screen.... It's so small, there's really no room for it.. It does have a small window sight..But, the lens is so wide that all you need to do is point the camera in the general direction and you're good to go..

As far as the batteries go, I've heard they will only last a couple of hours.. I load fresh ones everytime I use the camera.

Here's a quick one I shot a while ago...

I have a Flip Video which takes HD video. The one I have holds up to an hour of video. The usb and all hardware is built directly into the unit. It is real user friendly. They make suction cup mounts, handle bar, etc... The camera is as small as a cell phone. Here is a vid that I took with it. Actually all the vids that I have on you tube were taken with it...
