Lots of reaching claims in this article, but also some good points.

I think this is likely a half truth article, but Id be interested in hearing some clarity o n both sides i.e. if this is a fund for war reconstruction vs another type of actual program.

(given the amusing fact that the second troublemakers like Muqtada al-Sadr cant handle themselves in combat they run into a church.)

I dont know enough to know how mad it makes me without knowing more details.

Got any more?

At what point in this economic crisis we are in do we stop the madness and discontinue payment for absolutely all non-essential services?

I don't think it's gonna happen Doc.....We continue to hand out checks to the lazy here on our own soil....We receive hate in return....There's hardly any return on our investment when we continue to invest in anything with no logic.....Simple logic, take care of those that take care of their own....everyone else can starve,by their own choice, not mine......

I agree. The years of trillion dollar warfare in the Mideast would be a great place to immediately start discontinuing payment. Thousands of Americans dying and being wounded there is not a good policy either.

Go right ahead Z. Knock yourself out. I am sure it isn't anything I haven't heard before. I have stated my feelings concerning subsidies on a few other posts, in short I'll do it again:

We get rid of one, we get rid of them ALL!!! INCUDING minority and STUDENT GRANTS, Affirmative Action (another subsidy I despise) and many, many more.
I feel the same way about ALL non-profit organizations.

Id prefer to get the facts about the story before I render judgement-

Could be 100% BS - could be true.

If true its maddening and must stop.

You are the type to curse farmers for being corporate America but - you should remember not to curse him with your mouth full of food. It's bad manners and rather hypocritical. hil:)

And you curse the welfare system and any "entitlement program" while claiming to be a Christian yet Jesus said people should sell all their possesions and give the money to the poor. That doesn't seem hypocritical to you? hil:)

Cherry picking from singular events in the Savior's life, after seeing into the heart of a wealthy young man who was too proud of his possessions to let go, are we? Another important lesson over the heads of the unbelievers.

Now, shall we post up a list of what each of us has done, and continues to do, for society without thought of reward and compare? You might want to contact Ultra John before entering this arena with someone who actually understands service as the Lord sees it.

Lastly, if you believe handing out welfare checks is good for society, I'm sorry for you.
It's crippled generation after generation, robbed them of self worth, drained self esteem and ruined any hope of saving some and cost our society many many great people who otherwise would have made huge differences for all of mankind as productive citizens.

You know, like you used to be when you worked, produced a product/service, paid taxes, etc.

I believe that could be considered rationalizing your hypocrisy, but if you choose to keep denying it, so be it. It provides much amusement for all of us that can see through your line of bullshit.hil:)

Don't worry Forkin' If I was a farmer like you I would take free tax subsidies too. If I was a religious organization member like Doc I would like it that my church benefited from tax exemption subsidies. Only in either case I would be too humble and not knock other levels of "Welfare tax leeches" as so many here do. After all a tax leech, is a tax leech, is a tax leech!! So if you are being given money which was taken away from other taxpayers at least be nicer and less critical of your other fellow tax leech classes like poor people....Tax leech has a nice ring to it. You like that??? hil:)

One word, "Why?"

Mosque Makeovers With Your Tax Dollars - Video - WSB Atlanta

Every one in the State Dept needs to be FIRED!!!
Videos are blocked over here, but if it's about us building mosques then yes we have helped several communities build mosques. So why should we help them you ask? Just because one faction of a religion does not follow the true intent is no reason to blame all the other factions. If so all Christians are responsible for the actions of the hate mongers that protest at military funerals under the guise of being a church. One of the things that you will learn if you ever visit here in Afghanistan is that a large percentage of the population is illiterate. As such they have to take someone else's word for what is in their own holy book. We are educating the people, and by showing them that we are not anti-Muslim it does wonders in building good working relationships. If we have the guns and can support their belief even though it's not exactly the same as ours, they tend to return the favor and we start building rapport with the local people. And as they learn to read they realize that everything they are being told about killing all infidels isn't what the book actually says.

So we build or remodel a mosque and perhaps prevent 1 person from dawning a suicide vest and killing 1 American. Is it worth it? What if we changed the mind of one person whom might have grown up and planned a mass attack that would have killed hundreds?
Or what if we manage to touch the life of a future president of Afghanistan?

Bottom line, we're not fighting for what happened yesterday, we're fighting to affect what might happen tomorrow.

Define a tax exemption subsidie for churches. The fact that they don't pay tax isn't a subsidie. Additionally most churches provide free of charge to the community outreach programs such as food pantries, meals to the infirm, and no charge social gatherings. Throw in free child care (vbs and youth programs), counseling for teens, singles, couples and every other kind, and what they don't pay in taxes and then some is given back to the communities. But, tax payers money doesn't go to the Churches, so taxpayers don't subsidize squat unless they are giving offerings on Sundays.

Side step? First you side step my assertion, then you brag about how great you are while inviting me to verify your delusions with John, and finish it up with an attack of the welfare system and a lame personal jab at me, and you say I lack substance? I will give it to you Bobby, your hypocrisy knows no bounds.:)hand

PS I am shocked you had the self restraint to not mention "the Kenyan" in your post. Good job!
