My first time out in my 77 CVX20. I am brand new to jetboats.I just got out of a no wake zone right after launching. Eased into the gas and was surprised how much throttle I was having to use to get on plane. i went ahead and poured the coal to it and it seemed like she was lugging badly and wouldnt make power so I backed off and when I did she shut off. When I tried to start her back up the starter would barely turn her over..like it was dragging real bad or the motor was hot...and tight...or my impeller was bound up.
I had plenty of battery 5 minuets earlier and the starter is very fresh.
I let it sit/cool for a few minuets and even though it still spun slowly she fired back up but shut off at idle.
My temp guage was not working so my thoughts about it being hot we just my first knee jerk reaction.
Got towed back to the ramp and brought her back home. I stuck my hand in the pump inspection hole and did not feel anything.
It was able to crank it up and it idled fine.
Here is my big question. I may or may not have had the knob right below the shifter/throttle lever out.
If i did and my drive was in neutral is it plausible that I still had enough forward thrust to fast idle throuh a no wake zone and got my motor really warm and then hot trying to get on plane? Also I looked/felt arounf thw water inlet and didnt find any debree.
I plan on firing it back at the boat ramp in the morning.
Any help would really be very much appreciated.
