It's not a boat engine, but I thought I'd post it over here. I picked up my dad's 418" Windsor Ford yesterday and dropped it off to have a few things done to it before it runs on the dyno. Actually it's getting fitted for a T/R.

The engine will be going in his '35 hot rod. Hopefully it will be one the dyno in two weeks or so.

418": 4.030 bore x 4.100 stroke, Scat stroker kit. W-351 block, Eldelbrock 70cc Victor Jr. heads, ported RPM-Airgap intake, Crower hydraulic roller cam, 10:1 compression. It should make around 510-525 hp at 6,200 and around 520 lbs ft. trq. We'll know in a couple week's.

I built a 408w EFI motor a few months ago and it made 500 ft/lbs just before 3000 and was pretty flat until 5000 (truck motor). Canfield heads, Victor Jr manifold, custom cam, basic combo that makes good power. Your Dad should have a pretty quick Hot Rod. Chevy's are still cheaper to build but I prefer the Blue Ovals.;)

Who built the motor?
Total Performance in Santee. Greg Gosset. I already had the heads for it and it was going together. If I did it today I'd have him use the Dart Pro 1 smblk Ford heads they have a great chamber and very good port design.

Nice, I've done business through Greg, good guy. You going back to HP dyno? For comparison my pop's Mmad built 417ci small Mopar made 560hp at 5900 Rpm, and 580lbs of torque at 4500rpm, on pump gas (kinda)..... sorry, rarely get to take a shot at the Ford guy since that's what usually beats us :D J/k, good luck at the dyno :)bulb

Thanks for the info, I'll now re-consider my choice of dyno's. That thing must be screwed up if a smblk mopar made that much it must not be very accurate if you know what I mean. I'll make sure he recalibrates it for real #'s before we run it :p

Mopar have a solid roller, what intake ?

Solid Roller, Eldecrock RPM heads, Performer RPM air gap intake, a little more compression..... funny if they were closer in specs I bet they would make close to the same power :)hand

when u get them up n running...bring them around...i have a little sbf 347 incher in a '65 F/B Mustang that will turn ur heads!!!! :)

Why not a boat motor? Sounds like a great deal for a fairly light little boat. Paul and I just put a 338 pump gas iron headed deal in a boat we just built. Runs good.

She made 515 hp ( 5,400) and 530 lbs. ft ( 4,500) with the dyno headers 1 3/4"

and 523 hp (5,600) and 523 lbs. ft (4,800) with the Tri-Y's with the T/R.

We didn't have time to put the RPM Air Gap on it and run it with the single 4 barrel. I think this dyno is jinxed. Something strange happens to me every-time I go to it.

Good wild ass guess on the dyno numbers:

I'm just sorry we ran into overtime and I didn't want to spend anymore of Dad's bucks just to play on the dyno with the manifold change. I would have liked to see what the RPM Air Gap would have done. The T/R engine will look good in the Hot Rod.

Edit: Cam spec's: Hydr. Roller Lobe sep 114* [email protected] 224* 232* (283,290 adv) .552 lift

The cam was a little small to pull the higher rpm I was shooting for but this will work better for a street rod anyway.
