Hey guys, im new to the forum and just wanted to post up my first jet boat. Rate and hate and any advice on it would be appreciated.

86' Condor 5.5 with a BBC 468 and Berkeley 12je type A impellor and 12qt Armando pan.

Anyone have any advice on these and also what are key maintenance tips.

Nice looking Rig, Change the oil and filter when needed, lube the Jet every ten hours and enjoy, very little maintenance on these boats unless they break Good Luck

I know this a very biggener question lol and expect alot bs but, are these motors a must to winterize in Arkansas? We hit 26-40 through winter but its stored in a shop with avg temp of about 42. Only reason I ask is its 64 out today and tmrw and the owner winterized it. Im dying to get it out but I dont know the proper de winterizing and winterizing procedures on these?

He said he ran the tanks lownsnd then put Sta-bil in them and then he said he ran all of the water out ofnthe block and then filled with anti freeze.

Looking at the way the pump is watered I do not inferstand the configuration lol. Also i have a T behind the motor towards the transom with a water hose looking valve on it? I was told its how to adjust the flow of water to the pump?

I was also given a receipt for $6000 where in 2014 he had Hi-Tech put a 12qt armando pan on it replace all seals in pump and also re oil the bowl? Will i be good with all of that for a while or what do you guys think

Looks like a very nice toy, congratulations.

If it were mine, I'd wait until spring time unless you're ready to re-winterize your new toy.
If it has anti-freeze in the block, it would need to be drained out before you hit the lake as anti-freeze is toxic to fish and wildlife. There is also a large fine if the authorities see green coming out of your boat.
You say the average temperature in the shop is 42*. What is the possibility of it going below freezing in the shop with no power? (Worst case scenerio)
If a boat motor freezes, it can get very expensive.
Arkansas can and does get pretty cold for a length of time. Actually I understand there's a cold front coming down soon, like a couple of days.

I understand wanting to get the new toy out, and yes it could be done, but everything would have to re-winterized before it gets really cold.
Winterizing isn't a big deal, other than it takes time to do.
Can you do it, and will you do it, That's the question.

I am one of the lucky ones who do not have to winterize the boat.

However i have a friend that does. Something he told me he does is buy a cheap heat lamp for like a reptile cage. And shoves it in his bilge leaves it on all winter. He goes as far as not even draining the water out and replacing with antifreeze this is all he does.

Been doing it for a few years and no issues yet. But he is still in Cali.

Maybe a mix of both in your case just to be safe?

Jet boats have an open cooling system, unless special set up closed with radiator? (Used in salt water specific applications??) RV anti freeze can be poured/pumped into the block but if the last start up in the winter was done correct (start and only idle for a minute open header roar because it happens) on the trailer it should be blown out. Sand and sediment are a much bigger issue. It is 12f. as I type, probably under 32f. in my garage but only happens a time or to a year. (PAUSE) You got me nervous, it is 14f. outside and 41f. in my garage. Multiple levels of empty water bottles were not frozen nor a half a beer can or two. Just run the boat!
