that my old boat i got from holymoly and its for sale or did you buy it back.the guy i sold it to just called me last week and asked if i wanted to buy it back.
So who is the current owner? I have these pictures a friend sent to me, but I did not know who owned it to post on the website. This is an awesome looking tunnel wailer
That is my inspiration from this point on for my tunnel. My only question and hopefully someone will know. I have a 20' daycruiser tunnel and the engine is in the center of the boat, alot like a direct drive natique and all the other pictures i have seen of similar boats have the engine in the back. Why is it mine is in the center?

Mouzer, so who bought it from me? was it anyone on here? Sold it maybe....5 or 6 years ago.
Ok Badavenger I don't know too much about your boat nor the year but hear it goes. Like my 1974 (i think) Campbell it is old with more guess work than technology. The Campbell Tunnel was actually just a normal V-hull they cut approx. a 29 inch wide section out of the middle! The boat was never designed to be a tunnel. It took me years and new struts, driveshafts, prop shafts, plates, moving driveline very small amounts...etc. I spent days with Ron Braksma at his house and we measured the boat/bottom. The point is this tunnel was just one of maybe 6 ever and it was just " hey lets cut the center out and make it a tunnel"! I purchased the boat from a childhood friends Dad Skip Hawkins who actually help build and rig it with Kelron. Skip was the president of the Catalina Ski race years ago.
Anyway the shape and size of the tunnels if you will just are not correct and I was close to flipping it over and cutting the sponsons (if you will) off and making it better. It was awsome to drive but still needs a lot of tlc.
Whew! So how much is it for sale!:)hammers You never know!

Some ones first attempt at a ski boat, or they didn't want to spend the bucks on a V drive set up.

No it's a v-drive. Its got the engine in the center with a velvet drive 1:1 tranny, into a champion v-drive.

I KNOW that's how the first ski boats were done. I know it's not a v drive.
Cobra, I'm sure it is a v-drive. The early Campbells had the engine way forward in the cockpit, ran a very short drive shaft to the v-drive. It helped balance the boat getting the weight forward. I have a '67 24' criuiser that does zero bow rise coming on plane. The engine cover is literally in the middle of the cockpit. After the velvet drive, the input shaft to the v-drive is maybe 10" long. Ya, the did rig them that way!

Thanks Carl, I was hoping you would chime in. And your right there is little to no bow rise I guess I never put too much thought into that.
Cool

78 cole bbf has a very simlar boat, im sure he would love some some tips:)devil
When we re-rigged Danny's 20' Campbell we moved the engine back quite a ways, and the V-drive forward 10" and changed the strut angle from 10 degrees to 9 degrees and moved the strut forward. The strut and prop are the fulcrum that the boat balances on. When in it's original set up the boat wanted to porpose continously, after re rigging it carried the bow very nicely.
